It takes more than diapers to care for a little one. 💜

At ShareBaby, we support young children with more than just diapering essentials. From clothing and coats to other basic necessities, our work helps families access the things growing children need every day. And it takes more than diapers to make that happen. Cooler weather means bulkier coats — but a puffy winter coat and a car seat don’t mix, and many parents and caregivers don’t realize why. Here’s the problem: thick coats and snowsuits compress under car seat straps. The harness can look snug at first, but in a crash, the coat’s padding flattens and creates dangerous slack. That extra room can prevent the harness from protecting a child as intended.

The fix is simple: buckle your child in without the bulky coat, then lay the coat over them like a blanket or put it on backwards over the buckled harness. Lightweight layers, such as fleece, can help keep children warm underneath the straps. Quick check: once your child is buckled, you shouldn’t be able to pinch any extra harness webbing at their shoulders. If you can pinch it, tighten the harness. One more reminder: blankets, coats, and car seat covers should go over the harness only. Avoid adding bulky items under your child or between their body and the straps, and always follow your specific car seat manufacturer’s instructions.

Today on World Mental Health Day, we’re honoring the parents and caregivers of babies and young children who carry so much, often quietly. Your well-being matters just as much as your child’s, and no one should have to choose between meeting basic needs and protecting their mental health.

When families have diapers, clothing, and essential supplies, everyday stresses feel a little lighter, and there’s more room for rest, connection, and hope. That’s what ShareBaby works to provide. 💜

The coat bin went from empty to this. But there’s still space.

And watching young people carry coats to the bins on their own. That’s everything. They’re listening. They’re learning. They’re our future volunteers and donors.
We start distributing coats next week. Need winter coats, infant sizes through children’s 14-16.

Bins are outside the warehouse 24/7. Drive by. Drop what you can.

Did you know a family with multiples can go through hundreds of diapers every week? Swipe to do the diaper math.

For families already struggling to afford basic necessities, diapering multiple babies at once can make an already difficult situation even harder. Every diaper donated helps ShareBaby make sure families have access to the essentials they need!

Not even the rain ☔️☔️ could keep y’all away today.
And that just touches our hearts 💜💙 here at ShareBaby.

We are so grateful that you chose to spend your Saturday morning and afternoon with us.

First, hear from two of our three founders, Maya Ammons and Kristin Finkelstein, on what this day means and why we open our doors. Kate Mumaw, we missed you today.

Then just a look around the space. The people who showed up. The volunteers at the diaper bundling stations wrapping and talking. And yes, the babies were in the building. Moms brought their little ones because this is a family day and ShareBaby is for them.
And last, the reasons people wrote on our “Why I Support ShareBaby” board. Every Post-it. Every reason. Every reminder of why this matters.
More to come this week. But tonight, we just want to say thank you. 👶👶🏽👶🏾

Know before you go.

Tomorrow's the ShareBaby Open House and here's everything you need before you pull up:

When: Saturday, October 3. 10 AM - 2 PM.

Where: ShareBaby Warehouse, 1792 Union Ave, Baltimore.
How to find us: Cross the light rail tracks from Union Ave, make a sharp right, pass Morningstar Storage, go all the way back. Our front door is purple. You can't miss it. (From Clipper Rd: sharp left at the intersection, cross the tracks, same directions.)

Parking: Small lot out front. If that's full, use the bigger lot at the rear of the building. Please don't park by the Book Bank loading area or alongside the building.

We’re excited. 48 hours away from the ShareBaby Open House and Fred is in the building. 📸😂

The man behind will be here Saturday signing autographs and taking pictures. 😂 If you’ve been watching him every week, now’s your chance to meet him in person.
