Get hands-on with the cutting-edge tech shaping the future of medicine and biology. BUGSS is hosting a week-long, middle and high school Molecular Biotechnology Bootcamp from Monday, June 22 to Friday, June 26! 🧪🧬✨

Students will dive straight into advanced laboratory skills, explore the fascinating world of genetic engineering, and learn how scientists manipulate molecules to solve real-world problems.

Our BUGSS iGEM team is officially back at the bench and has kicked off lab work for the 2026 season! Every Saturday from now until October, high schoolers across the Baltimore region will conduct experiments on engineered bacteria and use biology to improve the world. This year-long project will culminate in a presentation at the October 2026 iGEM Jamboree in Paris, but we need your help getting there.

🍓 The ACTG's of Fruit (Ages 5–12): Got a curious elementary or middle schooler? In this fun workshop, they'll learn the basics of genetics and extract real DNA from fruit!

🧪 Marine Microplastics (Ages 12–18): For the environmentally conscious teen, travel to Gunpowder Falls State Park and dive into ecology. We will investigate microplastics, examine their impact on marine ecosystems, and use lab techniques to study our local waters.

🧬 Molecular Biotechnology Bootcamp (Ages 12–17): Perfect for middle and high schoolers, this week-long bootcamp dives into advanced lab skills, genetic engineering, and the cutting-edge tech shaping the future of medicine and science.
