Sometimes the best days are the ones that almost don't happen!

Leading up to Saturday, the forecast wasn't in our favor - bad air quality and big storms. But after Friday night's rain, the skies cleared just enough to give us a beautiful blue sky up north, and the expected storms turned out to be little more than a brief interruption.

The Highland Brothers, along with our families and friends, made the most of every minute. We shared great food thanks to Bro. Andrew's grilling, enjoyed plenty of games, and cooled off tubing down the creek. When the rain did pass through, we welcomed a nearby family under our shelter, and before long they were laughing and playing games right alongside us. It's a great reminder that fellowship is meant to be shared!

Another fantastic Highland Summer Picnic is in the books. It's all part of The Highland Way!

One hundred thirty-seven years of Highland Lodge is but an evening gone in the story of our nation's 250 years.

On this Independence Day, as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our great Republic, may we reflect on and be inspired by the enduring ideals of liberty, justice, and equality that gave birth to our nation. As Freemasons, we are reminded of our obligation to uphold these principles and to do our part in building a more perfect Union.

"This land is your land. This land is my land." From the heart of Baltimore to every corner of our country, may we have the courage and resolve to preserve our Republic by remaining faithful to the founding principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Let us dedicate ourselves to ensuring that a government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

We had a wonderful evening Tuesday as we celebrated our Strawberry Social! This was our last meeting before our summer recess, and families joined us to enjoy fresh strawberries and ice cream.

We were also honored to welcome the Sojourners Baltimore Chapter, who shared their Flag Toast and Flag Folding Ceremony in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of American independence and in anticipation of Flag Day this Sunday.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for this special evening. Summer is officially here!

Tuesday was a great night as we initiated two new brothers into our honorable fraternity. Since September, we have welcomed four new members into Highland Lodge. A huge thanks to our officers who performed excellent degree work and proving an exceptional experience. We enjoyed our guests from other lodge including the Grand Lodge.

On this Memorial Day, we remember and honor the brave men and women who laid down their lives, to the horrors of war, while courageously fighting for justice and defending our freedom. They and their selfless sacrifices are never forgotten. Bless the families of our fallen troops, and fill them with strength and peace.

We’ll let you in on a little secret of the Freemasons. Turns out it’s not treasure maps or hidden handshakes (well… maybe a few of those). Mostly we strive to improve ourselves and enhance our mind so we can become better men for our family and community.
This evening we enjoyed a fantastic historical study of Freemasoney in Colonial Maryland by our good friend Brother Martinez from Annapolis Lodge.
