Haven't photographed cosplay before? Try it at MAPV 2026!

What is cosplay you ask? It is a type of performance art in which participants wear costumes, accessories, props to portray fictional, historical or even abstract characters.

Cosplay photography is a collaboration between a photographer and a cosplayer to create images that bring a character to life.

Join John Krebs & Dan Arango, long-time cosplay photographers, for their workshops, Cosplay 101 and Cosplay 201. These sessions will help you learn portraiture basics, such as lighting, composition, and posing with cosplayers. Cosplay photography is a super fun way to learn how to interact with people for portraiture - cosplayers are enthusiastic people who are comfortable posing and emoting.
