The Monrovia Duarte Black Alumni Association (MDBAA) is excited to invite you to our 2026 Scholarship Gala, themed “Legacy of Faith in the Community.”
This year, we are proud to recognize MDBAA alumni Pastors and Ministers who continue to make a positive impact through their faith, leadership, service, and commitment to their communities. The evening will include dinner, special recognition of our honorees, entertainment, raffles, and fellowship.
Throughout the year, MDBAA sponsors programs and events that provide educational opportunities, strengthen community connections, and raise funds to support our scholarship program. One of the most important ways we fulfill our mission is by awarding scholarships to graduating seniors from Monrovia and Duarte schools who are pursuing higher education.
Over the years, MDBAA has awarded more than $150,000 in scholarships to deserving students. In 2026, we were proud to award 14 scholarships totaling $18,000 to graduating seniors. These scholarships assist students with expenses associated with continuing their education and represent our ongoing investment in their future success.
Our annual Scholarship Gala is our largest fundraising event, and your attendance and support help make our scholarship efforts possible. We would be honored to have you join us for this special evening.

Our newly renovated co-ed home is located in a quiet East Baltimore neighborhood, convenient to public transportation and approximately 2 miles from Morgan State University.
We currently have PRIVATE ROOMS AVAILABLE.
Residents enjoy:

• Washer & dryer
• Saturday morning breakfast
• Food and household necessities when available
• Access to PRP support and a life coach
• Connection to Emmanuel Church International
• A supportive environment where we genuinely want to see people succeed
We welcome adults with stable, reliable income, including employment, SSI or SSDI.

Extended foster care can help young people continue receiving housing, financial assistance and guidance as they transition to adulthood. A new survey of more than 400 young people found that most who participated said the program helped prepare them for adulthood — but some young people never knew that support was available. Among those surveyed who did not enroll, nearly half said their social worker never told them about the program.
