Code in the Schools We believe that everyone can learn to code and that all students should be given access to computer science education.

We provide a wide range of innovative in-school, after-school, and summer programs to expose youth to key concepts early, help them develop 21st century skills and capabilities, and build pathways from school to jobs and higher education. Learning to code fosters creative expression, teaches critical thinking and problem solving, and at the same time imparts concrete skills that prepare students f

or some of the most exciting and innovative jobs of the 21st century. Since 2013, we have worked to spread access to computer science education across Baltimore City. We work with a diverse group of 22 community partners to ensure our programs have a real impact with measurable outcomes.

👩🏽‍💻 Are you passionate about computer science & technology? Do you want to empower the next generation of innovators? Code in the Schools is seeking volunteer workshop facilitators for the Girls in CS Summit at Notre Dame of Maryland University on April 6, 2025!

🌟 What we’re looking for:
✅ Facilitators who can lead one or two 50min workshops
✅ Engage high school students in a hands-on, real-world project
✅ Preferably led by a technical or computer science professional from a background underrepresented in industry

🎉 What an Incredible Event!

Last Wednesday, November 20th, our NSA Panel Event was a huge success! 🚀

✨ Students got the chance to meet STEM professionals from the National Security Agency, gaining insights into cybersecurity, data science, and military intelligence.
✨ Our panelists shared career advice, inspiring stories, and answered tons of great questions.
✨ And of course, free pizza made the evening even better! 🍕

Summer is coming and Spring is around the corner – make sure to lock in your seat for CodeWorks and Prodigy today!

Prodigy is our free afterschool program that provides you (middle & high school students) with training in various computer science fields–from exploring machine learning with Python, to working toward certifications in cyber security.

CodeWorks is our workforce development summer program where YouthWorkers take on the role of Junior Developers to earn dual enrollment credit, work toward gaining industry recognized certifications, and gaining skills in video game development, cyber security, web development and more. learn more. Participants who are registered with YouthWorks are paid for their participation.
