The Food Project With your support we can empower futures together. U Empower of Maryland (UEMD) is a community-based nonprofit resource hub serving Southwest Baltimore.

UEMPOWER of Maryland's "The Food Project" brings culinary skills, job opportunities, sustainable food sources, mentorship & hope to the youth of South West Baltimore. At the UEMD HUB, we identify needs and create solutions by connecting neighbors to wraparound support under one roof—from fresh food access and weekly meal support to benefits navigation, health insurance, housing support, therapy co

nnections, mentorship, workforce readiness, and support for returning citizens. In Southwest Baltimore—where unemployment, low high school completion, and challenges like crime and substance use create serious barriers—The Food Project serves as a vital safety net in the heart of 21223, providing meals and emergency resources while helping individuals and families access the tools they need to move toward stability and opportunity. Through partnership and a welcoming intake process, we guide individuals and families to the resources they need to stabilize, heal, and move forward with dignity.
