Last Saturday, The Joy of Living was honored to partner with Valley Brook Community Church to serve individuals experiencing homelessness in Baltimore City. Together, we prayed with them, shared words of hope and encouragement, provided food and helpful resources, and distributed blessing bags filled with essential toiletries. What a beautiful day filled with compassion, faith, and love for our neighbors in need! We are grateful to Valley Brook Community Church and every volunteer who helped us remind others that they are seen, valued, and loved.

What a beautiful and successful Back-to-School Carnival! The Joy of Living was grateful to help students and families prepare for the new school year by connecting them with valuable community resources and providing backpacks filled with school supplies, clothing, food, haircuts, and more.

We are especially proud of our EmpowerH.E.R. young ladies, who showed up ready to serve, support families, and encourage more young ladies to join our program. A heartfelt thank-you to our young ladies, the two young men who volunteered, Ms. Washington, our staff, Demetrius, Yolanda, and all the wonderful volunteers who helped make the day so special. Together, we are empowering young people, strengthening families, and building a brighter community!

Today, we are proud to feature Alliyah, one of our incredible EmpowerH.E.R. young ladies, as she shares how the EmpowerH.E.R. Program has changed her life.

At The Joy of Living, this is why we do what we do. We believe every young lady deserves the opportunity to discover her voice, build confidence, develop leadership skills, and believe in the dreams God has placed in her heart.

Alliyah dreams of becoming a basketball player, and through EmpowerH.E.R., she is growing into a confident, resilient, and determined young leader who knows that anything is possible with hard work, perseverance, and support.
