Closing out Hispanic Heritage Month

This month, we celebrated the stories, cultures, experiences, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino educators in our City Teaching Alliance community.

From our Fellows to our alumni and the communities they serve, we’re proud to celebrate the educators who bring their stories, perspectives, and passion into the classroom every day.

Hispanic Heritage Month may be ending, but the celebration continues.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW? 💚

From Fellow to NextGeneration, the journey continues. This Homecoming season, City Teaching Alliance is celebrating our alumni and the paths they’ve taken since their time as Fellows.

Since completing the Fellowship, Marian Dorado has continued building in education in a new way. Today, she serves as the Founder of AiMi Family Learning, an education technology company focused on helping families play a more active and confident role in their children’s learning and success.

Their experience as a teacher continues to shape their work, helping bridge the gap between what happens in school and how families can support learning at home.

We’re continuing to celebrate where our Alumni started, where they are now, and how they continue to make an impact in education and their communities.

Did you know? Across U.S. public schools, Hispanic and Latino students make up about 27–28% of the student population, while only about 9% of public school teachers are Hispanic.

The gap is real. But so is the work to close it.

At City Teaching Alliance, we’re helping create stronger pathways for Hispanic and Latinx educators to enter the profession, grow as leaders, and make an impact in the communities they serve.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re celebrating the educators who are not only bringing their experiences and perspectives into the classroom, but also helping create a future where students can see themselves reflected in the educators who teach, support, and lead them.

Representation matters. And together, we’re building it. 💚

Today, we celebrate the educators who show up every day with purpose, patience, and passion. Teachers do so much more than teach lessons. They build relationships, create safe spaces to learn, encourage students to believe in themselves, and help shape the future of our communities.

At City Teaching Alliance, we’re proud to support the teachers and educators who are doing this important work every day. From the classroom to school leadership, educators are creating lasting impact for students and strengthening the schools and communities they serve.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW? 💚

From Fellow to NextGeneration, the journey continues. This Homecoming season, City Teaching Alliance is celebrating our alumni and the paths they’ve taken since their time as Fellows.

Kaylah has continued growing as an educator and leader. Now serving as an Assistant Principal at Buckner Preparatory with Cityscape Schools in Dallas, Texas, she supports an entire PK–8 campus through instructional coaching, professional development, PLCs, and relationship-building with teachers, students, and families.

From navigating multiple grade levels as a Fellow to stepping into school leadership, Kaylah’s experience is a reminder that the unexpected parts of our journey can prepare us for what comes next.

We’re celebrating where she started, where she is now, and how she continues to make an impact in education and her community.

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! ❤️

This month, City Teaching Alliance is proud to celebrate the culture, stories, and contributions of Hispanic educators making an impact in classrooms and communities.

Meet Manny Caraballo, a Year 1 Fellow in Maryland whose Hispanic heritage has shaped the way he thinks about family, community, belonging, and the power of education.

For Manny, continuing his education and becoming an educator is a way to honor the sacrifices of the generations before him while creating new opportunities for the generation that comes next. He is committed to creating a classroom where students feel seen, valued, and empowered to see their backgrounds, cultures, and experiences as strengths.

“Education is a way of opening a door that has always seemed shut. City Teaching Alliance has given me the chance to become an educator who helps my students find that door and reminds them that they have every right to walk through it.”

We’re honored to celebrate Manny’s story, his heritage, and the impact he is beginning to make with his students. ❤️
