As Salaamu Alaykum

Masjid Bait Allah will be having the Eid Salaah in the Masjid. At 9 am sharp .

We will not be praying at Druid Hill park.

Jumuah will also be prayed at its normal time 1:15 pm

And the Cookout and Celebrations will begin at 2 pm.

In order for a person’s wealth to become Zakat mandated, meaning Zakat must be paid on it,
It must :

1: Reach the Nisaab ( threshold ) which is the current market price of 85 grams of gold, that has been set at 64.4 USD today. Multiply that by 85 and you are looking at about 5,474 USD

2. The money must be surplus wealth That has not been used for an entire lunar calendar year.

Example. You have had 10,000 USD in your bank account or safe keeping place in cash or a check or crypto currency or any other currency used today and this money has not been used at all for your everyday livelihood and has not decreased.
Then if you meet these conditions you must pay 2.5% of this money in Zakat.
If your money does not meet these conditions zakat is not mandatory on that wealth and what you give from it is considered Sadaqah.

So as for the practice commonly seen today of people at the end of Ramadan or during Ramadan paying what they call Zakat and have not calculated this wealth properly or determined whether their wealth meets the conditions and just going to the masjid or Imaam and giving a sum of money , no doubt this is a good deed. But it’s not Zakat if it is not done In the legislated Islamic way.

Also beware of giving your zakat to projects and people and organizations that do not use that money for zakat eligible individuals.

Zakat is only for the poor and for the needy and for those employed to collect [zakat] and for bringing hearts together [for Islam] and for freeing captives [or slaves] and for those in debt and for the cause of Allah and for the [stranded] traveler – an obligation [imposed] by Allah. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.” [Surah Al-Tawbah 9:60]

And don’t be deceived by those who manipulate the part of the verse that mentions ( and for the cause of Allah) and generalize it to the point that every Islamic project or initiative is included
in this.

And by no means is this a detailed discussion about zakat. For that return back to the books of fiqh written by our Scholars who are the inheritors of the Prophet specifically from the early generations and seek the knowledge that YOU NEED to fulfill this worship if it is obligatory upon you.

May Allah aid us and forgive us all for our shortcomings and grant is His Mercy.

ما حكم أن يردد المصلون وراء الإمام عندما يدعو (ياالله) هل هي واردة عن الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم في الدعاء وإن كانت غير واردة أهي بدعة؟
الإجابــة
الحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله وعلى آله وصحبه أما بعد:

فالسنة إذا دعا الإمام في القنوت جهراً أن يقول المأموم: "آمين" ومعناها: اللهم استجب، أما في الثناء الذي يتخلل الدعاء مثل: إنه لا يذل من واليت، ولا يعز من عاديت، تباركت ربنا وتعاليت، فلم يثبت أن يقول المأموم "يا الله" أو "نشهد" أو "حقاً"، فإما أن يؤمّن لأن الثناء في سياق الدعاء، وإما أن يسكت، وقد ذهب بعض الفقهاء إلى إبطال صلاة من قال "يا الله" ونحوه، لأنه كلام خارج عن الصلاة لم تثبت به سنة، وقد جزم بعض العلماء كالشيخ ابن عثيمين رحمه الله بأن هذا القول بدعة.
هذا.. واستحب بعض الفقهاء أن يشارك الإمام بأن يقول ما يقوله الإمام من الثناء سراً في نفسه، قال النووي في المجموع: والمشاركة أولى لأنه ذكر وثناء لا يليق فيه التأمين.
أما إن كان قول "ياالله" بدلاً من قول "آمين" في موضع الدعاء فهو لا شك بدعة.
