Habitat Press Release
Baltic, South Dakota – The Sioux Metro Growth Alliance (SMGA), along with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sioux Falls (Habitat), and Baltic Area Development Foundation (BADF) are very excited to announce a home dedication ceremony taking place at 110 Morefield Avenue in Baltic, SD, set for Friday, February 16 at 12:30 p.m. Ryan Solberg, Economic Development Manager at SMGA, connected the BADF with Habitat back in the summer of 2022 as part of a redevelopment project of a dilapidated house.
Habitat staff and volunteers built the home’s foundation and finished the home after it was moved onsite from a production facility in Madison. The local Baltic family purchasing the home
put in over 300 sweat equity hours with the help of friends and family on build sites and in homeowner education classes.
“We’re grateful to the Sioux Metro Growth Alliance and Baltic Area Development Foundation for bringing this project to us,” says Rocky Welker, Habitat’s executive director. “We hope the success
of our partnership encourages other communities to reach out with affordable housing opportunities.”
Representatives for Habitat, as well as SMGA and BADF will be available after the ceremony.
