We are painting rocks to "hide" around Dell Rapids to spread joy and brighten people's day. Come join us! This is a community-building group meant to inspire creativity in all ages and energize people to explore the beautiful area we live in. arch "rock painting" on Pinterest or Google Images to find lots of rock painting ideas. Artwork that is PG rated is appreciated as kids love to look for and find the hidden rocks. On the back of your artwork we would love it if you would reference our page Dell Rapids “Rocks!" Once you're done painting your rock, its recommended to seal it before hiding it to protect your art from the elements. We would love for you to post pictures of your painted rocks before you hide them, or when you find them, but you can participate anonymously if you prefer. Please post only pictures that are PG rated – we want our page to be fun and safe place. If you find a painted rock from our group you can either keep it or re-hide it for someone else to find. The goal is to get lots of people all across our community painting so that there are lots of rocks to be found out there. You might find yourself rediscovering parts of our community you haven't appreciated in a while. Get out and ENJOY yourself! Add any of your friends to our page who would be interested in doing this and share the link to this page on your personal FB page.
*Please be careful where you hide your rocks so that they don't cause any damage to property (i.e. Don't hide in the grass where it can damage a lawn mower or hurt someone). Don't steal rocks from private property or from someone's landscaping. Don't trespass.
*You are encouraged to get together in groups for painting parties to make this even more fun! Girl Scout activity? Birthday party activity? Child care activity? Adults and a bottle of wine activity?!!
*Painted rocks reflect the opinions, attitudes, and creative expression of the individual artists, and not those of the page admin.

*We want to clarify that we don't allow any buying or selling of rocks on our page. Please don't post or comment on someone's post requesting to buy or commission a painted rock from another group member. Any attempt to commission artwork should happen via Private Message (PM) ONLY. Any comments or posts requesting to commission a painted rock will be deleted. The intention of this site and this community activity is singular and simple: SPREAD JOY. That's it. There are intentionally no strict rules because we should understand that everyone experiences joy differently. Please don't create your own rules and hold others accountable to them. Problems arise when we create expectations of others. Please do not. We can only control our own actions. And we can give. Generously. Please do. Play in a way that spreads joy. Recieve joy yourself while you play. Things that are NOT rules:
�You do not need to take photos. You can if it brings you joy.
�You do not need to post photo hints. You can if it brings you joy.
�You do not need to rehide. You can if it brings you joy.
�You do not need to rehide rocks in or around the same place you found them, you can if it brings you joy.
�You are not required to trace a rock's journey, posting found is optional.
�There is no limit on number of rocks you can hide, create, find or keep. When you paint a rock and place it out of your possession, consider it a gift and let go. You may never see or hear of it again. If your own purpose was that it would only bring you joy to stay in control of your rock, then you've missed the point of our page. Give just to give. Not because you expect a return. Not in the form of a rehide, not in the form of a thank you, not in the form of a photo. Do not get upset because the person that found your rock isn't playing the game the way you think people should be playing it. You may not have intended your rock for them, but God may have. And He knows better than you. Let it go... the moment you lay it down. If you find a rock that is inappropriately decorated, please do not post pictures, share comments about it or otherwise bring attention to it. Let the negativity die with you. Paint over it and move on anonymously. Let's try to use this page, not as a set of rules for a game being played, but a place where we can gather together to share how we are spreading joy through rocks. Nothing more, nothing less. Let the rocks write their own story, and step back and just ENJOY being a part of something bigger than you. Come back here to share your POSITIVE stories with us.
