More Than Enough

More Than Enough The words "not enough" are heard every day inside of our nation's foster care system...

Not enough resources. Not enough support. Not enough families.

More Than Enough is a community determined to achieve our shared vision of more than enough for children and families before, during, and beyond foster care in every US county. But it doesn't have to be this way where you live. More Than Enough (MTE) is a community united by our faith and committed to helping churches care for children and families in foster care. Together, we are determined to ac

hieve our shared vision of more than enough for children and families before, during, and beyond foster care in every US county. More Than Enough is facilitated by the Christian Alliance for Orphans, which supports the Community in expanding on-the-ground care for children and families. When you join the More Than Enough Community, you will find the support you need to:

* Communicate your vision, driving community involvement in foster care.

* Grow your work, multiplying the impact of your time, people, and funding by using ideas and resources from the More Than Enough Community.

* Do more together, expanding your reach and results through effective collaboration. County by county, state by state, we’ll reach more than enough together.

“Could you take my teenagers to play video games?”

That’s how Peter Mutabazi, a single foster and adoptive dad, gets mentors into his kids’ lives. He doesn’t ask for mentors. He asks people to bring his kids into things they already love.

His daughters need mom time and a hair appointment? He’ll ask a woman in his community: “Use my credit card. Could you take them?” People say yes. They’re thrilled to.

The single men who love video games? They’ve been in his teenagers’ lives for three or four years now. Not because he asked them to mentor anyone. Because he asked them to share what they already loved doing.

That’s mentorship without ever naming it. When you tag your kids alongside what people already love, people get excited to bring your kids into their world.

The phrase, “If every church raised up one foster family, we would eradicate the crisis,” has become a powerful and widely used rallying cry in foster care — and for good reason.

Instead of staring at a system-wide problem with thousands of children and countless variables, It lowers the barrier to entry and creates a sense of shared ownership.

But is “if every church raised up one foster family … ” a complete narrative?

In many ways, the logic functions like the math problems we learned as kids: If Johnny had x apples and gave y apples to Sarah, how many apples would Johnny have left?

Except the math of foster care doesn’t work like that. It's a system full of complexity, and not every church is positioned to raise up a foster family.

But the beautiful reality is that we have something even richer to invite churches into: an identity transformation on behalf of children and families.
