Today, our Kiwanis Club of Avon delivered 75 "Be Kind for Ollie" comfort bags to the Hendricks County Sheriff's Department - and we couldn't be more proud. 💚

When a child finds themselves in the middle of a crisis — a car accident, an emergency, a moment that no child should ever have to face — a first responder can now reach into their patrol car and hand that child a bag filled with comfort. A soft blanket. A stuffed animal. Crayons and a coloring book. Small things that say: you are safe, and someone cares about you.

These bags are made possible through the Be Kind for Ollie nonprofit, created in memory of little Oliver Dill. Ollie's story reminds us that even in heartbreak, there is an opportunity to spread kindness.

We are so grateful for all who joined us last night at our Salute the Recruits event to honor our brave young military recruits. This is sometimes their first (or only) event to celebrate their commitment to our nation. We do this so they know we are so appreciative of their service, courage and dedication and that they know our community is behind them and supports them.

Who knew all those hours playing Tetris would pay off! We packed our two Spring Break Boxes full for Mary Lee Maier Community Pantry, somehow splitting this all in half and fitting it into the 2 boxes:

8 Tuna Ready-to-Eat packets
45 Goldfish bags
30 Chip bags
28 Go-Go Squeezes
64 Granola bars
48 Fruit cups
16 Mac and cheeses
36 Oatmeal cups
12 Cups of soup
4 Pasta Roni Cups
10 Little Bites
2 Cereal boxes
24 Pudding cups

There is still time to donate some food items to this pantry for their Spring Break boxes - drop off is on Tuesday the 17th from 5:30-6:30pm at Evergreen Elementary (near the playground).

Can you provide a box? Sign up below (using their QR code on their flyer) and join our club and so many others by providing a box to ensure families have food over Spring Break.

We have almost reached 100 for our Spring Break boxes! We've been serving about 120 families per week, so we are still looking for 30-40 more people to donate a spring break box to ensure every family goes home with an extra box of food! Details are in the attached flyer. Boxes will be dropped off on Tuesday, March 17.

Thank you to all who came to learn more about our club and the service we do last week!
We had our wonderful guest speakers from Avon High School share what having a printed newspaper (which we sponsor) means to the kids. And we had a wonderful time doing service together.
If you couldn't make it to our open house but want to learn more about who we are and what we do, feel free to message us and we can set up a coffee at your convenience!

Our club had an incredible time sorting donated food with Project A.N.G.E.L. last night. We finished in record time!

We celebrated our year of full of service and fellowship with our club holiday party immediately following our service project. Service is the main reason we come together throughout the year but the friendships made have made being a part of this club even more special.
