The Texas Restaurant Foundation is the restaurant industry's go-to educational resource for Texas!

The Texas Restaurant Foundation was established by the Texas Restaurant Association in 1994 as a 501c3 non-profit organization, to focus on providing the necessary resources to help restaurateurs confront educational and labor challenges with the latest innovations in education, technology, and training. The TRF’s mission is to offer educational opportunities for restaurant careers in Texas. The Foundation’s primary goals and objectives are to promote public awareness of careers in the foodservice industry, enhance educational opportunities by providing professional development training for new and existing personnel, and to provide industry based education to culinary educators in an effort to reach new standards in high school foodservice education.

Second Chances provides justice-involved individuals with hands-on culinary training so that they can graduate the program equipped with the skills to enter the Texas restaurant industry with confidence.

When Texas ProStart graduate Emma Hasbun met and cooked with one of her heroes, Chef Thomas Keller, she said, “Beyond the meal itself, the interaction was meaningful and inspiring—an unforgettable moment that reflects the strength of mentorship and dedication in the culinary journey.”

Emma now works at a Michelin star restaurant, Mari, located in the Hell's Kitchen District, where she continues to apply the learnings gained from her experience with Texas ProStart.

Congratulations to Lancaster High School’s Culinary Arts program! Their prize? State-of-the-art RATIONAL kitchen equipment to take their dishes to the next level.

Earlier this year, we partnered with RATIONAL Cooking Systems to challenge Texas ProStart students to showcase their culinary skills and tell us how access to a RATIONAL Smart Kitchen Lab would elevate their education.

Lancaster High School’s authentic, engaging video highlighted talented students, strong instruction, and a clear vision for the future. Under the leadership of Chef Instructor Latina Dawn, students showcased the teamwork, technical skills, professionalism, and passion that define Texas ProStart.

But this story is about more than new equipment; it's about creating meaningful partnerships that connect education with industry. This partnership reflects our broader commitment to supporting ProStart educators, expanding workforce development opportunities, and investing in the next generation of restaurant leaders through innovative programming and classroom resources.
