This month, we’re proud to spotlight Phyllis Grissom, a member of Cohort 3 of the LBJ Women’s Campaign School!
A lifelong Fort Worth resident and longtime public education advocate, Phyllis Grissom has spent her career developing expertise in one of the most complicated areas of Texas public policy: school finance. She has worked extensively with school districts and communities across Texas and has developed a deep understanding of school funding, property taxes, school budgets, and the policies that shape educational opportunities for students. Her experience at the LBJ Women’s Campaign School gave her an opportunity to build on her commitment to public education.
At the LBJ Women’s Campaign School, she found a community of women who inspire each other to be bold, step forward, and believe that their voices and leadership can make a difference. Phyllis reflected, "The hardest and best thing we did during our time at Campaign School was work together on our final project. We created a comprehensive campaign plan to elect Na'Cole Thompson to public office. And to see Na'Cole today serving and thriving as Mayor of Leander is simply inspirational!"
Today, Phyllis is continuing that journey as a candidate for the Tarrant Appraisal District Board, Place 1. We’re proud to celebrate Phyllis and the continued impact she is making in Tarrant County!
If you are an alum, we would love to hear where your path has taken you since attending the LBJ Women’s Campaign School and potentially feature you in a future Alumni Spotlight.
