In the final days in Ecuador, CU DPT students and faculty continued to learn about physical therapy education and practice across the country. The group visited the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, where they connected with faculty and leaders in the physical therapy community to learn more about their program and how physical therapy education differs from that in the United States.
The following day, students and faculty visited Universidad Central del Ecuador to collaborate on a seminar for more than 300 physical therapy students and professionals, discussing the future of physical therapy in Ecuador. Topics included the ICF model, F**T principles, progressive overload, pain science, motivational interviewing, and much more. Thank you to UCE for hosting us!
To wrap up their adventure, the group traveled to La Mitad del Mundo, “the Middle of the World,” and the Basílica del Voto Nacional for their final opportunities to experience the unique culture and geography of Ecuador.
As this incredible journey ends, we have endless gratitude for everyone who made it possible: Dr. Dawn Magnusson, Dr. Jennifer Stevens-Lapsley, Dr. Michael Harris-Love, the entire CU DPT Department, Hombro a Hombro, Sociedad Ecuatoriana de Fisioterapia, and all of the physical therapists, patients, and community members we had the privilege of meeting along the way. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, your culture, and your generosity with us; we are forever changed. 🇪🇨
