Our Aviation Academy had another great session today, this time at Augusta Regional Airport! From the StandardAero jet engine facilities to the control tower (and everything in between!), these Club Members got a fascinating inside look at the aviation careers available in their own back yard.

Due to a severe weather warning associated with the approaching tropical storm, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta will implement early closures tomorrow June 18th out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of our members, families, and staff.

School-Based Club Sites will close at 1:00 PM:
Belair Elementary
Lake Forest Hills Elementary
Harlem Middle School
Lamar Milledge Club

Standalone Club Sites will close at 3:00 PM:
E.W. Hagler Teen Center
Washington County Club
J. Hebbard Club
Dogwood Terrace Club
Thomson Club
Sparta Club
Oasis Club

We ask that all parents and guardians make arrangements to pick up their children promptly by the designated closing time for their Club site.

At our newly revamped Teen Workforce Center, we know creativity and expression are vital to succeed in the modern workforce.

That’s why we offer creative writing, podcasting, music recording, and dance programs alongside STEM activities and general academic support. Every teen who comes through these blue doors will walk back out into the workforce with a well-rounded set of experiences!

This summer at our new Teen Workforce Center - in addition to our regular workforce programming - we are hosting special, weeklong courses in unique industries, starting this past week with cinematography! Our Teens had a blast learning not only how to shoot and edit their own short films, but also the behind-the-scenes skills needed to run their own production company. Take a look into what they’ve cooked up!

We are incredibly excited to begin introducing you to our new E.W. Hagler Teen Workforce Center!

This site has been renovated and refocused to support our Industry Club programs for the over 200 Teens who will use it daily. Industry Clubs prepare Teens for the workforce by providing paid, hands-on experience, training, and certifications in a variety of career tracks. Through our 4-E program model - Education, Exposure, Exploration, and Experience - Teens learn basic soft skills and financial literacy that prepare them for experiences in the real world to earn while they learn. Follow along this week as we introduce you to the programs and opportunities available here, starting with barbering and cosmetology, fashion retail merchandising, and interior design!

We loved welcoming Club Alum and District 1 Commissioner Jordan Johnson () to our Hagler Teen Center! He stopped by to share a powerful message with our Teens: civic engagement isn’t just a responsibility, it’s a superpower. When young people know their voice matters and how to use it, entire communities are transformed for generations to come.

Our Aviation Academy had another eventful day this week, this time over at Daniel Field!

Our teens heard from professional pilots about how to earn and make a living from your pilots license, toured the hangers and got hands-on opportunities with the planes, and best of all, each teen got their own experience taking off, flying, and landing in the flight simulator.

Special thanks to Augusta Aviation, Daniel Field, and of course, to Austin Jackson for leading this project for our teens. Next stop: Augusta Regional!

Who’s ready for the World Cup to kick off today? We are now, thanks to Georgia's Own Credit Union for stopping by our Hagler Teen Center with a donation of brand new soccer balls this morning! Our teens can now hit the pitch alongside their favorite soccer stars.
