Last Sunday, we had the blessing of spending the morning with our friends at Hopewell United Brethren Church!

We were invited to share updates about Hearten House, celebrate what God is doing through this ministry, and share some powerful testimonies.

We are incredibly grateful to the Hopewell church family for welcoming us so warmly and for your continued prayers, generosity, and support. Partnerships like yours make such a difference in the lives of the women and families we serve.

Tuesday’s staff meeting was full of laughter, fun, and great memories! 💕 We are so blessed to have such an amazing team—not only talented and hardworking, but supportive, caring, and always willing to have a little fun together!

Grateful for each and every one of you and all that you bring to our team. We truly are better together! 🥰✨

To complete phase at Hearten House, a woman has to show continued effort in working their program and accomplish many goals along the way. It’s not easy to get up every day, face the challenges that come with recovery and build new and healthy habits, but these two women are doing with grace!

Volunteers put the HEART in Hearten House ❤️
And when it comes to heart, Miss Patsy brings it all. This is what Patsy has to say about volunteering at Hearten House...

"In 2019 I heard Marisa and Beth speak of the home where women could live and recover from the struggles and addictions life circumstances had brought them. I told our church outreach committee about it and wondered if we could give the women some small gifts to show them they were important, loved and cared for.

When their larger home was acquired I felt God leading me to personally be involved in the ladies' lives. I began to drop in every so often with other members of the church to make snacks or baked goods with the residents. These visits soon became more scheduled and turned into a cooking class with full meals.

These weekly interactions, I believe, have taught me more than I have given them. Some deep friendships have been established, sharing in joys and sorrows, disappointments and victories, graduations and moving in life. Many women accept Christ as their Savior, are baptized and show a desire to sever God.

What a blessing it is to be a part of this ministry, to learn from them, to laugh with each other and to see God's Spirit move in miraculous ways..."

It looks like finding people who understand without needing every detail explained.

It looks like showing up, being welcomed, being heard, and realizing you don’t have to walk this road alone.

Recovery looks like laughter around a table.
It looks like hard conversations and honest moments.
It looks like celebrating milestones—big and small.
It looks like reaching back to help someone who is just beginning.
It looks like being reminded, on the difficult days, that there is still hope.

This Recovery Month, we celebrate the people who make recovery feel possible: the friends, families, peers, sponsors, mentors, advocates, professionals, and communities who continue to show up.

Because recovery isn’t just about changing a life—it’s about finding connection, belonging, and a community where we can grow together.

Please park at the fairgrounds near the intersection of 15th Street and Center Street, next to the outdoor theater.

Then catch a FREE ride to and from Hearten House by:

🐴 Horse drawn carriage
🚐 Van shuttle

♿ Handicap parking will be available directly at Hearten House, 1304 Center Street.

The Shindig is completely FREE, including food and activities, but we’ll also have a silent auction and homemade bake sale benefiting Hearten House.
