We’re honored and grateful to share that Hearten House has been selected as a recipient of Opioid Settlement Funds through the City of Auburn.

These funds will help us continue providing hope, healing, and recovery support for women and families impacted by substance use disorder. Thank you to the City of Auburn and all those working to strengthen recovery resources in our community.

Tonight, we were honored to recognize and celebrate three outstanding organizations that are making a meaningful difference in the community's efforts to address the opioid epidemic: Hearten House, Serenity House Inc., and the DeKalb County Drug Treatment Court Foundation.

These organizations provide critical services, support, treatment, and recovery resources to individuals and families impacted by substance use disorder. Their dedication, compassion, and commitment to improving lives strengthen our community and offer hope to those facing addiction.

The City of Auburn and the Auburn City Council have chosen to allocate $32,000 from the City's unrestricted opioid settlement funds to support the important work being done by these local organizations:

• $12,000 to the DeKalb County Drug Treatment Court Foundation, Inc.
• $10,000 to DeKalb Community Impact Corporation, Inc. / Hearten House
• $10,000 to Serenity House, Inc.

These funds will help cover drug screening costs and other program-related expenses, allowing these organizations to continue serving individuals in recovery.

The Drug Treatment Court Foundation provides structured, accountability-based treatment that helps break the cycle of addiction and reduces repeat involvement in the justice system.

Hearten House provides recovery services for women, while Serenity House provides recovery services for both men and women. Both organizations offer safe, supportive housing and recovery services that help create stability and support long-term sobriety.

As we often say, recovery is not just about treatment—it's about creating a support system that gives people the opportunity to rebuild their lives.

This investment reflects the City's commitment to prevention, treatment, and long-term recovery. Using opioid settlement funds in this way ensures these dollars are directed toward evidence-based programs that directly benefit our community.

Strong local partnerships like these help improve public safety, strengthen families, and build a healthier Auburn. Most importantly, this is about helping people find a path forward and supporting the organizations that are doing this important work every day.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the staff, volunteers, advocates, and participants of these organizations for their tireless efforts and commitment to helping individuals achieve recovery and build healthier futures.

Together, we can continue making a positive impact and creating a stronger, healthier community for all.

📌Communities across Indiana have received distributions from the Opioid Settlement Unrestricted Fund as part of settlements reached through the Indiana Attorney General's Office.

The State of Indiana has secured multiple settlements with major pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors, and related companies as part of its ongoing commitment to accountability and addressing the devastating impacts of substance use.

The distribution of these funds is governed by Indiana Code § 4-6-15, unless otherwise specified by settlement agreements or court orders.

There’s always something delicious happening in the Hearten House kitchen when Miss Patsy is around!

With a smile, a servant’s heart, and plenty of delicious recipes, Miss Patsy faithfully spends her Thursdays teaching our women new cooking skills, sharing encouragement, and creating memories around the table.

We are so grateful for the time, love, and laughter she brings each week. Thank you, Miss Patsy, for investing in the women of Hearten House and making Thursdays a little brighter (and a lot tastier)!

Help us show Miss Patsy some love in the comments!

We are incredibly grateful to the team from Cultivate Church for spending their time serving at Hearten House!

Their crew rolled up their sleeves and worked hard to transform our outdoor spaces, helping get our yard looking beautiful and well cared for. Acts of service like this make a lasting impact on our home, our ministry, and the women we serve.

Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus and for investing in the mission of Hearten House. Your generosity, hard work, and servant hearts are such a blessing to our community.

It is a privilege to serve alongside people who faithfully share the love of Christ and help bring hope, healing, and restoration to the women we serve. We are grateful for this team and the work God is doing through each of them.
