Adopt a Golden Atlanta

AGA, a 501(c)3 non-profit rescue dedicated to Golden Retrievers, fully foster based & 100% run by volunteers. Based out of Atlanta

We do not reject any golden, no matter their medical or behavioral needs and work tirelessly to find their "furever family". We find warm, loving forever homes for Golden Retrievers to prevent them from being strays or adding to shelter overpopulation. Regardless of medical needs or age, dogs receive vet care, training if required and safe passage to a forever home.

ADOPTED! Abby Pup is the fourth of the K-Pop Litter to be adopted! The eight pups, plus, their mom, dad, and older Golden sibling, were also surrendered to the Fulton County Animal Shelter and immediately welcomed into AGA’s care.

Abby, now Hazel, is now part of her perfect family. She will enjoy morning walks, playing in the yard, and learning from her canine brother, Oreo. Welcome home, sweet girl. 💗💗

ADOPTED! Some families open their hearts to one senior orphan… and some extraordinary families say, “Why not TWO?” 🥹🐾 We are absolutely thrilled to share that Muttley Sr. and Riley Sr. were adopted by the same amazing family!

Muttley now goes by the name Murphy. At 10 years old, he arrived at AGA severely underweight, covered in painful road rash, and in need of surgery. After six months of healing, good meals, walks, and so much love from his amazing foster family, Murphy was finally ready for his forever home. Today, he enjoys country life with his retired parents, daily walks across ten acres, his canine brothers Riley and Oliver, and his feline sister Piper. And apparently, Murphy still has more energy than Mom and Dad!

Sweet Riley came to AGA at 12 years young after being found as a stray, when his previous family chose not to take him back. It didn’t take long for everyone to discover what a happy, cuddly, playful sweetheart he was. Today, Riley is spending his golden years exactly as he deserves — with his new family and furry brothers, Oliver and Murphy, running and playing in his backyard and soaking up all the love he has always deserved.

This family didn't just open their home to one senior orphan. They opened it to TWO.❤️ Now Riley and Murphy get to spend their golden years surrounded by love, furry siblings, soft beds, full bellies, plenty of room to explore, and a family committed to giving them the very best.

Because while it may not be common for two senior orphans to find their forever home together, who are we to deny these boys the life of luxury they deserve in their golden years? 👑🐾 Happy tails, Riley & Murphy! We couldn't be happier for you both. 💛

ADOPTED! Baby Pup is the third of the 8 Golden Pups (the K-Pop Litter) to be adopted. The puppies, and shortly after, momma golden, dad golden, and an older golden sister pup were all surrendered to the Fulton County Animal Shelter and AGA welcomed them all in with open arms.

Baby Pup found her forever home with previous AGA adopters! They were so excited to adopt Baby Pup. Baby has human siblings to help play and take care of her. She will enjoy lots of walks, toys, and a wonderful life with her new family. Congratulations, sweet girl!

ADOPTED! Rumi Pup is the second of the 8 Golden Pups (the K-Pop Litter) to be adopted. She and her seven siblings came to AGA from Fulton County Animal Shelter after they were surrendered when mama golden got out and was with the neighbor’s male golden. About a week later, momma golden, dad, golden, and an older golden sibling were also surrendered to the shelter and welcomed into the AGA family.

Rumi Pup joined her forever family and now goes by the name Marley! She has a sweet Lab sister, Layla, who will teach her how to help be a greeter at the family’s store. She also has a nice, fenced yard to play in and a family who adores her. Congratulations, sweet girl!

ADOPTED! Fulton County Animal Shelter reached out to AGA with a request to take a litter of 8 golden puppies, and we obviously said yes (just look at them)! The owner had shared that her female Golden had gotten out and met up with the neighbor’s male Golden. About a week later, we also took in mom & dad and an older golden pup, who were surrendered to the shelter later. We were happy to bring in the eight-week-old "K-Pop" litter, their parents, and the older golden pup.

Mystery Pup was adopted by an amazing family and now goes by the name Tully! He has parents who work from home and a big Golden sister, Georgia. Tully has lots of walks, playing ball, and trips to the mountains & beach in his future. Welcome home!

𝗠𝗘𝗘𝗧 𝗢𝗭𝗭𝗜𝗘! 💙 Ozzie is a 3-year-old golden boy weighing about 75 pounds. He was found as a stray by a kind good samaritan who brought him to a local shelter. When no one claimed this handsome fellow, AGA welcomed him with open arms.

For almost two months now, Ozzie has been living his best life in foster care — and he has settled in so nicely! This loving, sweet, active boy is ready to find the family he can call his own. 🐾

Ozzie LOVES having doggy friends! His foster has two AGA Goldens, and Ozzie has become the best of buds with both of them. 🥰🐶 He also absolutely LOVES to run and play, so a fenced yard is a must for him.

Ozzie is a happy, enthusiastic boy who can get a little jumpy when he’s excited; he loves to give kisses, and he even gives THE BEST hugs. Because of his enthusiasm and goofy personality, he would do best with older kids who can match his play style!

This affectionate, fun-loving boy has so much love to give, and we know he is going to make a fantastic family dog! ❤️ He is house-trained, and would love someone who is home most of the day (stay-at-home or work-from-home), as his favorite place to be is by your side.

𝗦𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗧: 𝗦𝗛𝗘𝗟𝗕𝗬! 🐾 Don’t let the number 9 fool you… Shelby is 9 years YOUNG! ❤️🐾 Our sweet Shelby is full of life, energy, and playfulness! She’s always ready for a walk, an adventure, or some quality time with her favorite people.

𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗯𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗴𝗲: completely housebroken, wonderfully well-mannered, great in the car, and completely trustworthy in the home. She walks beautifully on a leash and LOVES her walks, making her a wonderful companion for daily strolls and quiet adventures. 🥰

She’s a gentle, loving girl with wonderful manners and does great with children. If she’s invited onto the furniture, she’s happy to join you — because really, the best place to be is right beside the people you love. ❤️

Shelby does need another friendly dog in her forever home; having another dog around helps her feel more comfortable and confident. She also needs a single-family home with a fenced yard (no apartments, condos, or townhomes, please)!

𝗟𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗬 𝗜𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗔 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗙𝗢𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥 🩷 Lainey was a breeder dog in Oklahoma who retired and came to AGA. She is 7 years old and 65 pounds.

Unfortunately, Lainey has been diagnosed with an inoperable cancer and is looking for a permanent foster who is local to the Atlanta area. AGA will cover all of her medical care, and all you will need to provide is a loving home for this next chapter of her life.

Lainey is extremely sweet. She is fully house-trained, loves to give hugs, and is good with kids (even small ones) and other dogs. She does not have a prey drive, so she may also get along with cats. 🩷

She loves affection and attention. She knows how to sit and shake, walks wonderfully on the leash, and loves a good bone. 🦴 So, if you’ve ever thought about making a difference for a dog that needs it… 𝙏𝙃𝙄𝙎 𝙄𝙎 𝙔𝙊𝙐𝙍 𝙈𝙊𝙈𝙀𝙉𝙏. 🐾
