and Canada that operates a large-scale farming project and safe haven for children in Eswatini (formerly Swaziland). Our growing 2,500 acre multi-commodity farm and community provides care and education to orphaned children, training and employment to the families in the region, and a sustainable source of nutritious food for many. and Canada to support our program in Eswatini. We also offer volunteer trips to individuals with a heart for service. Through our page we are committed to sharing interesting information about our organization and projects. Years ago, Bryan Throgmorton said yes to serving as a long-term volunteer at Project Canaan.

That yes meant raising his own support, traveling to Eswatini and giving years of his life to serving our children. During that time, Bryan poured his energy, experience and heart into developing our Activities Team, helping build the strong program and systems that continue to serve our children today.

But his yes didn't end when his season as a long-term volunteer did.

Bryan has continued to return to Project Canaan for shorter visits, once again raising the funds to make the journey and choosing to spend his time serving the children and team he has invested in for so many years.

One yes became years of service. Years of service helped build a team.

That team continues to pour into hundreds of children. And the impact keeps going.

Bryan, thank you for saying yes all those years ago, and for continuing to say yes again and again. We are incredibly grateful for the mark you have left on Project Canaan and on so many of our children.

Sometimes one yes can reach farther than we ever imagined.

What happens when you invest in one child? It doesn't stop with that child.

A child who is given a safe place to call home can begin to grow and thrive.

A child who is educated can discover their gifts and begin imagining a future.

A child who is loved, encouraged and given opportunities can grow into an adult equipped to use those same gifts to serve others.

That's why it's difficult to measure the impact of caring for one child by looking only at today.

At Project Canaan, we have the privilege of walking alongside children through every stage of their lives, from their earliest days through their education and into adulthood. Our hope isn't simply that they grow up safe and healthy. It's that they become men and women of character, faith and purpose who are prepared to make a positive impact on the world around them.

One child. One life. So many possibilities. ❤️

Sometimes the impact of what we do today reaches much farther than we can see.

Last week, we shared the arrival of three tiny brothers at Project Canaan. Since then, our family has grown by two more.

Each new arrival is a reminder of why this work matters and why we are so grateful for the community that stands behind it. Caring for a child is not a one-time commitment. It means providing a safe home, nutritious food, clothing, healthcare, education and the love and support of an incredible team for years to come.

Behind every meal served, every lesson taught, every child cared for, every field tended and every part of Project Canaan that keeps moving forward, there are people.

People who show up.

Across Project Canaan, an incredible team of Swazi men and women brings their skills, experience and commitment to this mission every day. They are teachers and caregivers. Farmers and cooks. Nurses and maintenance teams. Drivers, administrators and so many others whose work may happen quietly behind the scenes.

Together, they are the people who turn mission into action.

And while we often share the outcomes of the work happening in Eswatini, today we simply want to celebrate some of the people behind it.

We have some very special news to share from Project Canaan!

Earlier this year, our team made the thoughtful decision to pause accepting new babies while we focused on caring well for the children already entrusted to us. Since then, our Children’s Leadership Team and Boards have carefully monitored our capacity through evaluation, planning, wise counsel and prayer.

They’ve identified space for a limited number of additional children within our existing homes and staffing structure, allowing us to welcome babies again without adding new staff, constructing new facilities, or incurring additional costs apart from formula.

So, what’s our special news? We can welcome a limited number of new babies on Project Canaan!

And more special news - our first new arrivals came in threes!

Three tiny brothers came to us after their young mother found herself unable to care for the newborns on her own. When she reached out for help, our team worked alongside Social Welfare to find the best path forward.

Today, those three little boys are safe, loved and surrounded by some of the most incredible caregivers we know.

Reopening our doors does not mean that any need has gone away. In fact, it is a reminder of the imperative need for the continuation and expansion of this type of work. It does mean we are carefully using the people, space and resources already entrusted to us while continuing to make thoughtful decisions about the future. We’re grateful to be able to use what is already in place to say “yes”.

And to everyone who has helped make Project Canaan what it is today: thank you. Your generosity reaches further than you may ever see, just as it’s reached three tiny boys.

Two photos. Fourteen years apart. ❤️

In 2012, the first children arrived at Project Canaan, and the Baby Home became the beginning of something we could only imagine at the time.

Today, look at what surrounds it.

The Children’s Campus has grown to include many homes, creating a place where children can grow up surrounded by care, community and opportunity.

But these photos represents so much more than buildings.

It represents years of people showing up.

People who gave. People who prayed. People who volunteered. People who built. People who sponsored children. People who worked day after day at Project Canaan. And people who believed in the mission enough to keep saying yes, year after year.

When we look at these two images side by side, we’re reminded that something extraordinary can grow from a beginning that once looked very small.

As we celebrate 20 years of Heart for Africa, we're incredibly grateful for every person who has helped build this story.

What does a normal school day look like for a Grade 8 student at Project Canaan Academy?

Today, we're following Anna. ❤️

From the first lesson of the morning to time spent with classmates, reading, writing, learning and everything in between, come along for a glimpse into an ordinary day at PCA.

It also happens to be International Literacy Day, which makes today a fitting opportunity to celebrate something woven into so much of Anna's day: the ability to read, write, understand, communicate and continue learning.

Literacy isn't just one subject on the timetable. It's a foundation that helps learners engage with every subject, express their ideas, ask questions and discover more about the world around them.

And for Anna and her classmates, all of those everyday lessons are helping prepare them for what comes next.

There may not be anything extraordinary about this particular school day.

But day after day, lesson after lesson, something extraordinary is being built. 📚❤️

Christmas will be a little cozier for our children at Project Canaan this year, thanks to our wonderful friends at Jambos! ❤️ Jambos Donates

For the second year in a row, Jambos has generously donated enough pajamas for every child in our care. Each pair will be wrapped and waiting for the children at Christmas, giving them something new, comfortable and special to call their own.

We are so grateful for partners who continue to show up for our children year after year. Jambos, thank you for helping us make Christmas at Project Canaan extra special and for reminding our children that they are loved by people near and far.

We can’t wait to see all those Christmas pajamas! 🎄❤️

September 5 is the International Day of Charity, a day that celebrates the power of generosity to change lives and strengthen communities around the world.

At Heart for Africa, we see what that generosity can make possible every day.

It looks like a child sitting down to a nourishing meal. A student walking into a classroom ready to learn. A family strengthened through meaningful employment. A child receiving the love, care, and opportunity they need to thrive.

For 20 years, people have chosen to give, pray, volunteer, partner, and stand alongside this mission. Each act of generosity has become part of something much bigger: bringing HOPE to the people of Eswatini through Hunger, Orphans, Poverty, and Education.

On International Day of Charity, we simply want to say thank you.

Thank you for believing that generosity matters. Thank you for caring about people thousands of miles away. And thank you for helping turn compassion into lasting impact.
