Bones' story is why we do what we do. ❤️
In 2012, a stray dog named Belding arrived at with a severely shattered leg. Though he was in tremendous pain, his gentle spirit never wavered.
When Road Trip Home’s Rhonda, Heather and Kaye met him, they knew he deserved a chance. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and the incredible care of Dr. Toby Carmichael, who performed complex leg surgery at a discounted rate, Belding began his long road to recovery. After months in foster care and physical therapy, he was able to recover, build up muscle and the ability to walk pain-free, and was finally cleared to travel.
That's when Jen Adkins at in Kennebunk, Maine found him the perfect family. Renamed Bones, he spent the next 14 years surrounded by love with Rachel and Jonathan Hare. Recently, they said goodbye to their beloved boy at the remarkable age of 16 to 18 years.
From a forgotten street dog with a shattered leg to a cherished family member in New England, Bones' journey is a reminder that every life is worth fighting for.
Thank you to everyone who helped make his story possible. Because of you, Bones knew love, comfort, and the joy every dog deserves.
