A HUGE thank you to Bloom Closet for coming out on Friday and absolutely SPOILING our youth at A Friend’s House! 💕

There’s something so special about giving kids the opportunity to shop for themselves, pick out things that reflect their own personalities, and express their unique styles! From clothing and shoes to Squishmallows, Dumplings, and other fun surprises, there were smiles all around! 🧸✨

But it was about so much more than shopping. It was about giving our youth the freedom to choose, helping them feel confident, and reminding each one that they are special and deserving of a little extra love. 💙

🎉 Please join us in congratulating our September Employee of the Month, Mr. Carvelle! 🎉

Mr. Carvelle is a dedicated member of our Direct Care Staff team who works closely with our boys. He is a positive male role model who consistently demonstrates teamwork, positivity, patience, and the importance of remaining calm in stressful situations.

Mr. Carvelle enjoys taking the boys into the community for outings and spending time playing basketball with them. He often turns these activities into meaningful teaching moments, using everyday experiences to help the boys learn, grow, and develop important life skills.

He is a valuable source of guidance, encouragement, and support, always focusing on helping our boys build confidence and become successful young men.

Thank you, Mr. Carvelle, for your dedication, compassion, and all that you do for our boys! Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition! 👏🏆

👟❤️ A HUGE thank you to Dave at NEWSole Running on the Square in McDonough!

Two of our youth at A Friend’s House are participating in track, and we wanted to make sure they had the right shoes to help them train, compete, and do their best.

Dave took the time with each of them to help pick out the perfect shoes and make sure they had the right fit. But he didn’t stop there — he also gave A Friend’s House a great discount on their shoes, helping our dollars stretch even further!

It may seem like a pair of running shoes, but to our youth, it’s another reminder that their community is behind them and cheering them on. ❤️

🌟 Congratulations to Our August Employee(s) of the Month! 🌟

Please join us in celebrating Mr. Raheem and Mrs. Tara as our August Employees of the Month! 🎉👏

💙 Mr. Raheem is a dedicated member of our Direct Care Staff team who works directly with our young men. He consistently provides support, guidance, and encouragement as they navigate challenges and celebrate successes.

Mr. Raheem is also known for going above and beyond to assist our Operations Department with critical tasks that help keep our building and grounds safe, welcoming, and up to par. He uses these opportunities to teach our young men valuable daily living and life skills, whether he's showing them how to pump gas, paint a wall, fix things, or clean-up the grounds. Mr. Raheem understands the importance of preparing our youth with practical skills they can carry with them throughout life.

💙 Mrs. Tara, our Director of Operations, truly wears many hats at A Friend’s House and handles each responsibility with grace.

From overseeing operations to managing building maintenance, she works tirelessly to ensure everything runs smoothly. Mrs. Tara prioritizes the safety and well-being of our youth, making sure our building meets standards, while also creating an environment that feels like home. She is a problem-solver who responds quickly and finds creative solutions, making her exceptional at what she does.
Most importantly, Mrs. Tara leads with compassion and love. From personally preparing each young person’s room before they arrive to helping them pack when it’s time to begin their next journey, she is always willing to lend a helping hand.

💙 What a blessing today has been! 💙

We were so excited to be a part of Kares 4 Kids today and are incredibly grateful that A Friend’s House was chosen to participate!

Thanks to this amazing opportunity, we were able to secure lots of snacks, essential breakfast items, and so much more for the youth in our care. 🥣🍎🥨 These everyday necessities make such a difference in keeping our pantry stocked and making sure our youth have what they need.

We are incredibly grateful to Kares 4 Kids and everyone who makes this event possible. Thank you for supporting organizations like A Friend’s House and helping us continue to provide for the youth who call our house home. 💙

Many of the teenagers who arrive at A Friend’s House come to us years behind, not only academically, but in the basic life skills most of us take for granted.
