You’ve probably been told: build your confidence, then take the leap. Wait until you feel sure of yourself, then put your hand up, send the email, walk into the room. Here’s the problem: it’s backwards, and it’s why so many capable people stay stuck waiting for a feeling that never quite arrives. Confidence isn’t something you feel your way into. It’s something you act your way into – the people who look confident aren’t the ones who felt ready first, they’re the ones who moved before the feeling showed up, and let the action generate it.

In this session, discover why “build your confidence first” has it exactly backwards, and learn the specific shift that lets you generate real, durable confidence on demand, starting with the smallest possible action, not the biggest leap of faith. You’ll leave with a way to move even when you don’t feel ready, because now you’ll know that feeling ready was never the prerequisite.

Anita van Rooyen is a multi-award-winning confidence coach whose programs have been used by over 15,000 students and young people across Australia, and recognised by the Australian government as ‘best practice’ for her innovative approach. She is the founder of Student Confidence and creator of the Preparise Platform, a personal and professional development program used by universities and Australia’s largest student accommodation providers. Congratulations to Golden Key Member Ralph Brooks III! 🎓

Golden Key International Honor Society proudly recognizes Ralph Brooks III for earning his Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Management from American Military University, graduating Magna Cum Laude.

While serving a demanding 20-year career in the United States Navy, Ralph balanced deployments, long workdays, and the responsibilities of raising three sons. There were moments when coursework was completed late at night after exhausting shifts, assignments were submitted from different duty stations, and family sacrifices became part of the journey. Yet through every challenge, he remained committed to proving that perseverance can overcome even the busiest seasons of life.

Now, having recently retired from military service, Ralph is preparing for his next chapter. He plans to leverage his education and decades of leadership experience to pursue opportunities in human resources, project management, and operations, where he can continue leading teams, developing people, and making a meaningful impact.
