Inheritance of Hope

Inheritance of Hope 562 children will lose a parent to terminal illness today. They shouldn't have to face that alone. Surprisingly, there were none.

OUR STORY | The Inheritance of Hope story began with one young family facing a parent’s terminal illness – a mom and dad with young children looking for resources for their entire family as they all navigated the mom’s illness. They decided to create resources for their family and share them with others. In 2007, Deric and Kristen Milligan launched IoH with the mission to inspire hope in young fam

Does your toddler know something's changed, even if they don't have the words for it?

This week, Carissa Hodgson from Bright Spot Network shares why silence isn't protection for young kids facing a parent's cancer diagnosis. Carissa grew up in the aftermath of a parent's illness herself, and that's exactly why she shows up for families walking this road now.

Left without information, kids often fill the gaps on their own. "Kids have such incredible imaginations," she says. "They will use that magical thinking to make up a story, and it's usually far worse than the truth. Give them the real information."

From children's books that carry the conversation for you, to free art kits delivered to your door, to virtual support groups for every stage of treatment, Bright Spot Network is helping parents across the United States believe their kids will be okay.

If you're a parent trying to figure out how to talk to your kids about a diagnosis, or you know a family who is, this episode is for you.

This is a story we hear again and again from Legacy Retreat®️ volunteers.

Every retreat is filled with unforgettable moments - shared laughter, meaningful conversations, and lasting connections. While families experience hope and encouragement, volunteers often discover that serving transforms their own hearts in unexpected ways.

One week after losing her mom, Emily reached out to Inheritance of Hope hoping to find out if her mom had recorded a Legacy Video™️.

Thankfully, years earlier, her mom, Dianne, had taken the time to preserve her stories, memories, and words of love through Inheritance of Hope.

For Emily, receiving that video was “like inheriting a treasure.”

Dianne’s Legacy Video™️ became more than a recording. It became a precious moment in time, captured forever, and a lasting gift her family could continue to hold onto.

In the latest blog post, Emily shares how meaningful this gift has been and why she encourages others, especially those facing terminal illness, to consider creating a Legacy Video™️ for the people they love.

250 Years of Freedom. Countless Reasons for Hope.

This Independence Day, we celebrate the freedoms we cherish, the communities that bring us together, and the moments that become lasting memories.

As families gather to watch fireworks, share meals, and spend time together, we're reminded that some of life's greatest gifts are found in simply being together.

From all of us at Inheritance of Hope, we wish you a joyful, safe, and meaningful Fourth of July.

Happy Independence Day! ❤️🤍💙
