The Bookmobile

The Bookmobile The mission of the Bookmobile is to increase literacy by increasing access to books and information. The Bookmobile began as an idea in September of 2016.

The South Bartow Community Needs Assessment, conducted by the Northwest Georgia Regional Public Health Office of Chronic Disease Prevention, had revealed numerous gaps in services and opportunities in the South Bartow area. These included library services, youth programs, family programs, and educational supports. The Bartow Bookmobile was conceived as a way to begin addressing some of these needs

. Almost immediately after conception, a private citizen expressed a desire to donate a large quantity of books to serve as a library for the South Bartow area. We accepted that donation and the challenge that it entailed, and the Bartow Bookmobile began its journey from dream to reality.

It's time for the Second Lady’s Summer Reading Challenge! 🇺🇸📚

This nationwide challenge is open to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade—and the goal is simple: read 12 books this summer!

Here’s what you can earn:
• A digital certificate
• A personalized letter
• An America 250th-themed bookmark
• A chance to win a trip to Washington, D.C. + the White House on September 25, 2026 🇺🇸

📍 Good news- we’ll have printed submission forms available on the Bookmobile, so it’s easy to get started!

This summer, as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s founding, we are excited to invite all children (K-8) to join in the Second Lady’s 2026 Summer Reading Challenge. Participants will read and track 12 books of their choice between June 1 and September 4. Every book counts!

Last Friday was the perfect way to kick off summer 📚☀️

On the last day of school, we visited Cartersville Elementary and celebrated the classes with the top attendance that day by letting them pick out a book from the Bookmobile!

We are excited to welcome our friends from the Bookmobile during pantry hours tonight from 5PM–7PM! Families and children will have the opportunity to pick out books and enjoy this wonderful community resource while visiting the pantry. ❤️
