If students don’t believe in truth… what are we actually teaching them?

You can’t build an education on skills alone.
You can’t form a life on opinions alone.

At some point, students have to wrestle with what is true.
Because truth is what gives meaning to knowledge, direction to thinking, and purpose to life.

Without it, education becomes noise.
With it, education becomes formation.

What is education actually for?

Is it test scores?
College acceptance?
Career preparation?

Or something deeper?

True education isn’t just about what students know.
It’s about who they are becoming.

It forms the mind.
It shapes the heart.
It prepares a person for a life of wisdom, responsibility, and purpose.

If we don’t answer this question correctly, everything else we build in education will be off.

Intellect without character can be dangerous.

Knowledge alone is not enough. Wisdom requires a moral compass.

One of the most promising things about classical schools is that formation does not stop in the classroom. You see it in the hallways, in the way students treat one another, and even in correction. Every moment becomes an opportunity to ask a deeper question.

What character needs to grow here?

In many communities, school plays a significant role in shaping the whole person. That means forming not just minds, but hearts. Teaching students about virtue, responsibility, and the beautiful things of life.

Education should do both.
