Our services, fundraisers and contributions provide scholarships for children to attend camps, forums, 3conferences and other educational programs. A couple months ago, GoBYK was invited to Clark Atlanta University to sit in on a marketing class where students presented a case study on our work. Being in that room was a reminder of why Black history matters so much. These students didn’t just bring fresh ideas on how we can grow, they also honored what we already do and why it matters.

Pouring into our youth, teaching them their history, and watching them analyze, protect, and build on Black institutions is powerful. This is what it looks like when education, legacy, and community meet. Black history is not just something we teach, it’s something we actively build together.🤎

Today we’re highlighting Garrett Morgan, an inventor and entrepreneur who created the first successful gas mask and an early version of the traffic signal. His inventions saved lives and made everyday life safer, even though he didn’t always receive credit at the time.

Garrett Morgan’s story reminds us that creativity and problem-solving can change the world, no matter where you start.

Black history is innovation. Black history is impact. Black history is ongoing.

Claudette Colvin was a civil rights pioneer whose courage as a teenager helped change the course of American history. In 1955, at just 15 years old, she refused to give up her seat on a segregated bus in Montgomery, Alabama, stating it was her constitutional right to remain seated.

Her arrest became a key part of Browder v. Gayle, the landmark court case that ultimately ended bus segregation. Despite her critical role, her story was often overlooked, making it even more important that we continue to tell it.

At Go Beyond Your Knowledge, we believe in honoring the full truth of our history and uplifting the stories of those whose bravery paved the way for future generations. Claudette Colvin’s legacy reminds us that the youth has power, knowledge is strength, and standing firm in truth can change the world.

Go Beyond Your Knowledge Summer Camp is back.
A space where kids learn who they are, where they come from, and how powerful their minds can be.

Go Beyond Your Knowledge is an educational enrichment camp centered on Black history, leadership, creativity, and self-confidence. Through hands-on activities, storytelling, and community, campers are encouraged to think critically, dream boldly, and move with purpose.
