Ararat Church

Ararat Church Ararat Church is an interdenominational, multi-ethnic, full-gospel christian church. We are that family. We are interdenominational and Full Gospel.

In April of 2019 the Lord put it in the heart of a family to start Ararat Church. This family has been in ministry for decades and has served as pastors, teachers, music directors, musicians, singers, prayer leaders, children’s ministers, media ministers, as well as a category best described as, whatever-was-needed. The family left all that they had worked for behind and answered the call to “step

out of the boat onto the water with Jesus.” This family did not know until just a couple of weeks before the first service that they would be able to occupy the building of their dreams. Yet, against all earthly reason, with the favor of Almighty God, Ararat Church had its first service on September 1, 2019. We are Watsons and Lequizamons who bring with us other devoted family members (with other last names). But we all continue in the tradition of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, spiritual father, and earthly hero, Bishop Harry Ararat Mushegan. He was a first-generation American whose parents narrowly escaped the Armenian genocide through their heeding of a prophetic warning. He ministered in the Atlanta area for over five decades, continuing to minister until the Lord took him to Heaven in 2013. His theme song was, “If I Can Help Somebody,” and he lived his life just like that. As for us, we are a family who strives to reach out to other families and individuals to bring the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to disciple believers into becoming “special forces” for the Kingdom of God. We believe in the soon coming of Jesus Christ and the need for revival among all nations. We are not interested in “church as usual,” nor do we subscribe to the mixed methods of so-called “seeker sensitive” churches. We love the Lord with all that is within us and desire to be conduits for His salvation, healing and deliverance! Our structure may seem a little unusual in that the pulpit is occupied by three people: two sons (Senior Pastors Nathan and Noah Watson) and their mother (Janet Mushegan Watson, Founding Pastor along with Pastor Dan Watson). Other family members pastor, teach, minister to our children, sing, play instruments, occupy the sound booth, and do, well, what-ever-is-needed. We invite “whosoever will” to come out onto the water with us as we follow our Lord!

“A Prophetic Word”
Day 15: Stand firm.

“Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭16:13-14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Somebody said, “If you don’t stand for anything you’ll fall for everything.” Situational ethics, moral relativism, describes a way of being and doing in which context is everything in terms of determining right or wrong.

Now, whereas we all know that there are extenuating circumstances that can affect what is judged as the right thing or the wrong thing to do in that particular situation. But I fear that in this day and time, the greatest pressure being exerted, that is to say the greatest “situation” in the situational ethics scenario, is what the current society is embracing/condoning/encouraging.

For example, things that just a few years back, we would’ve thought absurd to even entertain, are being pushed, even being presented as a human “right.”

In a general sense, we see how many people are driven by trends, yes fads, and some are slaves to what is currently “in.” This tendency is reflected in what people wear, what people eat, even the way in which people speak. Ways of being and doing come and go, with one fad being overtaken by another.

However, in terms of our walk with the Lord, we must not be swayed by societal whims, political winds, or even religious trends.

One preacher does something, and now other preachers want to do that, hoping to get the same results. How one church’s praise team looks becomes the trend for how everybody should look in a praise team. Sadly, even beliefs become trendy. But the word of God stands fast; His spirit is unwavering; and Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever! Even so, I’m pressed to ask if anyone, anymore, asks the Lord what He wants?

“¶My son, fear the Lord and the king; And do not associate with those who are given to change [of allegiance, and are revolutionary], For their tragedy will rise suddenly, And who knows the punishment that both [the Lord and the king] will bring on the rebellious?”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭24‬:‭21‬-‭22‬ ‭AMP‬‬

In the above scripture, we see that the writer of Proverbs, well states the importance of staying aligned with the Lord, even if others have decided that it’s not the modern way of being and doing, even as others have found their so-called “latest and greatest,” forsaking the old paths.

“Thus says the Lord: “Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭6‬:‭16‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Child of God, establish your firm standing on the word of God. Be moved only by His Spirit. And—as other things come and go—keep your eyes on Jesus! Follow Him alone!

Peace to you.

“A Prophetic Word”
Day 14: When faced with temptation, speak the word.

Jesus had just been baptized and had been confirmed by the voice of His Father in heaven.

“Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heavens were opened, and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭3‬:‭21‬-‭22‬ ‭ESV‬‬

No sooner had His baptism taken place, the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness to be tested by the devil.

“And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

For 40 days, Jesus had not eaten, and He had become extremely hungry. At this juncture, the devil saw his opportunity to get Jesus to prove Who He was.

“And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry. The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Yes, Satan wanted to provoke Jesus to turn a stone into bread to satisfy His immense hunger. Well, Jesus was having none of it and met Satan’s temptation with the word of God.

“But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ ””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Having been rebuffed, Satan decides to offer another type of temptation. This time, the temptation was to be given power, the “easy” way (“easy” because this most certainly would have preempted His suffering and dying on the cross).

“And the devil took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time, and said to him, “To you I will give all this authority and their glory, for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whom I will. If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours.””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭5‬-‭7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Yet again, Jesus refused, offering only what God had said, as His defense against this new temptation.

“And Jesus answered him, “It is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.’””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Then, for a third time, Satan, not willing to be so easily dispatched, offered another temptation. This time, determining that two could play at the “game” of using God‘s word, Satan brings a temptation wrapped in the word of God.

“And he took him to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, for it is written, “‘He will command his angels concerning you, to guard you,’ and “‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭9‬-‭11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Jesus, not being tripped up by Satan‘s deceptive use of the word of God, again refuses to walk into the temptation being offered.

“And Jesus answered him, “It is said, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬ ‭ESV‬‬

With Jesus’ third refusal to enter into the temptation offered by Satan, Satan departed, to wait for another opportunity to lead Jesus into temptation.

“And when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from him until an opportune time.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Three times, Satan attempted to appeal to a potential weakness common to all mankind. Indeed, John speaks of these 3 types of temptations.

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭2‬:‭15‬-‭17‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Satan appealed to the lust of the flesh by trying to exploit Jesus’ severe hunger.

Satan then tried to appeal to the lust of the eyes (what is seen as desirable), by showing Jesus all the kingdoms of the world, and then offering to give all of them to Him.

Finally, Satan tried to appeal to one last potential weakness: the pride of life, by offering Jesus the opportunity to show how great He was by being able to jump from such a high place without being hurt.

Paul instructed that even though our personal temptations seem very hard to resist, we are not facing something others have not faced.

“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10:13‬ ‭NLT

Yes, the Lord knows our limits and won’t allow us to be pushed beyond our ability to resist. Indeed, with each temptation, the Lord will provide a way to get out of it unscathed. But it won’t do us any good if we’re not paying attention to the leading of His Spirit.

Child of God, there are many reasons why we may struggle with temptation. For some, temptation is the result of opening doors to certain habits or desires, whether through active or passive participation.

Other temptation comes because there hasn’t been a vigilance in spirit: keeping watch over the state of our soul with prayer, holy living, and meditation on God‘s word.

However, we see the most common cause of temptation, illustrated in the temptation of Jesus. He was not guilty of any of the things before mentioned. But although He was all God, He was also all man. And as a man, He was subject to being able to hear the voice of the tempter, the devil himself.

If you really look closely at any temptation, you will see that it is a blatant attempt to get the believer to disobey the word of God. Therefore, the solution in the face of temptation, is to use the word as a weapon. This will only work if you are being obedient to the word yourself, and actually believe what you are saying. If you wield the word, knowing that it is from God’s mouth, and are assured of the power that is in it, you will see that the temptations that come your way will be conquered!

“So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
‭‭James‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We humble ourselves before God by obeying what He has said. We are then able to successfully wield the sword of the Spirit, the word of God, as Jesus did when faced with the devil’s ploys.

Peace to you.
Jesus is coming! Get ready for Him!

“A Prophetic Word”
Day 13: Be faithful to the Lover of your soul!

“Draw me after you; let us run. The king has brought me into his chambers. We will exult and rejoice in you; we will extol your love more than wine; rightly do they love you.”
‭‭Song of Solomon‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The breakdown of faithfulness in marital relationships is one of the main causes of the breakdown of the family, and indeed, of society. Strong family units produce a strong society. The truth is, this lack of faithfulness in marital relationships was and is fallout from unfaithfulness toward our Lord.

Unfaithfulness toward the Lord is nothing new. Indeed, all through the Old Testament we see the Lord speaking to His people, Israel, with whom He had made an everlasting covenant, concerning their idolatry and their running after the gods of this world.

One particularly poignant passage illustrating God‘s love and His broken heart concerning Israel’s infidelity, is found in Ezekiel. The Lord sent Ezekiel to speak to Jerusalem concerning her breaking of His covenant with them. In this prophetic word to Jerusalem, the Lord describes His relationship with Jerusalem by speaking of the way He had rescued His people when nobody cared for them. He blessed them, made them beautiful, and then they thanked Him by turning to other gods, being faithless concerning their covenant with the Lord.

“And as for your birth, on the day you were born your cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water to cleanse you, nor rubbed with salt, nor wrapped in swaddling cloths. No eye pitied you, to do any of these things to you out of compassion for you, but you were cast out on the open field, for you were abhorred, on the day that you were born. “And when I passed by you and saw you wallowing in your blood, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ I made you flourish like a plant of the field. And you grew up and became tall and arrived at full adornment. Your breasts were formed, and your hair had grown; yet you were naked and bare. “When I passed by you again and saw you, behold, you were at the age for love, and I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your nakedness; I made my vow to you and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Lord God, and you became mine. And your renown went forth among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through the splendor that I had bestowed on you, declares the Lord God. “But you trusted in your beauty and played the w***e because of your renown and lavished your whorings on any passerby; your beauty became his.”
‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭16‬:‭4‬-‭8‬, ‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Sadly, the story of broken covenants does not stop with Israel and the Lord. Even though the Lord has loved us to a degree our human minds can not begin to understand, many Christians deem Him unworthy of our faithfulness. So many of our personal stories reflect the story told in Ezekiel: We come to the Lord, broken, needing to find hope and a way out of our trouble. Yet, we too soon can forget what He has done for us, and be found in the tent of the world.

Our opening scripture is only a portion of a beautiful love story found in the Song of Solomon. This love story can only begin to express the love and devotion our Savior has shown to us.

Child of God, there is nothing better you could do than to ask the Lord to draw you close to Him and allow His love to envelop you. And—in the moments of that precious union—commit to staying close to Him and to living such that you will reflect the faithfulness due to the One Who has given us EVERYTHING! Why should we fight against a love that was proven on a rugged cross where His death restored us to life? Let’s be faithful to Him. Let’s be His virgin bride waiting for His soon coming with great joy and anticipation. The King is coming! Our King is coming! And He desires that we rule and reign with Him. How can we not seek to please Him only?

“He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love. Sustain me with raisins; refresh me with apples, for I am sick with love. His left hand is under my head, and his right hand embraces me!”
‭‭Song of Solomon‬ ‭2‬:‭4‬-‭6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is his name; and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, the God of the whole earth he is called. For the Lord has called you like a wife deserted and grieved in spirit, like a wife of youth when she is cast off, says your God.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭54:5-6‬ ‭ESV

Peace to you.

When we look back at where we’ve been, sometimes the only response we have left is worship. Walking in His way changes everything. 🩵

Truth is, we don't always know how He brought us through the storm. We don't have all the answers, and we don't need to. But we can look back with absolute certainty and say: He handled it perfectly. 🔥

Drop a "🙌🏽" in the comments if you're thankful for His goodness today!

You don’t have to live defeated when Jesus already secured the victory.

Because of Jesus, you get to stand in victory right now! 🙌🏽Victory doesn’t mean you’ll never face battles; it means the battle no longer has the authority to define you! 🔥

Fear doesn’t get the final word. Shame doesn’t get the final word. Your past doesn’t get the final word. Jesus does. So stand firm in what God has spoken over your life. Walk with confidence, not because of your own strength, but because the One who fights for you has never failed. 🩵

“A Prophetic Word”
Day 12: You may lose “friends” because of your convictions.

““Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven. “Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword. ‘I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. Your enemies will be right in your own household!’”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭10:32-36‬ ‭NLT‬‬

For the most part—unless someone has some complex emotional or psychological issues—we all want to be liked and to get along with others.

Additionally, along with the desire to be liked and get along with others, is the desire to fit in with a group. And certainly, as Christians, we must show ourselves friendly. Our dealings with all people must be done in an attitude of love: “Nobody cares how much you know if they don’t know how much you care.” An attitude of love is supposed to be the sign of being a true disciple of Christ (see John 13:35).

All that being said, there comes a time when what you believe as a result of your relationship with God in Jesus Christ, may—by itself—make you offensive to even those who are the closest to you. In our opening scripture, we see Jesus referencing this very dynamic.

Now, some may feel torn to a certain extent, feeling that their relationship with the Lord is somehow alienating them from those they love. As such, this may cause them to want to just keep their convictions to themselves to avoid controversy. They may even come up with some conscience-satisfying rationale that makes their silence palatable, somehow serving “the greater good.”

Sadly, we are entering into a time where there is increasing pressure to conform to a certain way of thinking, or, at least “go along to get along.” In fact, it seems that other faiths are much more tolerated and defended by the world system than our Christian faith. Even many churches have taken down their crosses, stopped talking about sin and the need for repentance, neglect talking about the soon coming of Jesus Christ, or operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Sadly, the list of things churches will no longer do, or things they wouldn’t have done before, but do now, grows longer and longer. Child of God, you cannot find that rationale or doctrine in the Bible.

Indeed, we are supposed to be salt and light. We are not to take part in sinful behavior, but rather expose it by our own example of obedience to God. Unfortunately, some of the behavior in which Christian churches or individuals take part under the guise of being more “inclusive,” actually border on—or have completely slipped into—behavior that denies Christ. And as we see (again referencing our opening scripture), this doesn’t work out well in terms of eternity.

John warns us to not be surprised at the fact that the world hates us.

“We should not be like Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother’s righteous. Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭12‬-‭13‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Peter instructs that living a holy lifestyle will cause us to be slandered, but that the day will
come when those who do so, are judged for it.

“Of course, your former friends are surprised when you no longer plunge into the flood of wild and destructive things they do. So they slander you. But remember that they will have to face God, who stands ready to judge everyone, both the living and the dead.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4:4-5‬ ‭NLT

Remember: Experiencing loss of friends, family, even those we dearly love, because of our relationship with Jesus Christ, puts us in good company.

““If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭18‬-‭21‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Yes, think of it, if they hate Jesus, the God Man who lived a perfect life and died for the sins of the world, it shouldn’t be surprising that there will be those who hate us as well. Yes, we are in very good company.

Peace to you.
Jesus is coming! Get ready for Him!
