What 3 words would you use to describe Urban Recipe?

Monet’s answer: Community. Support. Loving.

Monet was a new co-op member back in the fall of 2025, and even early in her co-op membership could see something different about the way food is discussed at Urban Recipe. Food Co-ops are more than putting food on the table, they are a supportive, loving community of wonderful members, choosing to serve one another and take ownership of their own food security.

This year we are celebrating 35 years of Food Co-ops for families in the Atlanta area! As part of our celebration, some of our close friends and supporters are raising funds for Urban Recipe so we can continue our mission to end food insecurity. May - a time of transition with school graduations, first jobs, weddings, babies, seasons changing and settling into new routines. But over here at Urban Recipe, we stayed consistent. Food going out every day to families in the Atlanta area through our free Food Co-ops. Look at these numbers! Thanks for helping us make a real impact here in our city.

These are just a few reasons we are proud to partner with Atlanta Community Food Bank to distribute extra food this summer to families with kids. We have over 100 families in our program with children that have been able to receive extra food for the last 2 months due to this incredible partnership. Thank you Atlanta Community Food Bank and all of our donors who allow us to be able to maintain our purchase partnership with them!

Georgia Nutritional Assistance Program: GNAP. We are proud to partner with to help families with kids have access to more food this summer. We serve kids all year long (3 of our co-ops are hosted at schools for families!), but ensure families get extra support during the summer months. Hendrick, our Operations Manager is ready for summer! Are you? So many families are impacted by unexpected expenses in the summer, higher electricity bills, and the tighter cost of living with the kids being home. We are proud to operate our free food co-ops all year to help alleviate that stress!

Parish Grove co-op says hi! Parish Grove is one of our CPP co-ops. That means they are run by our partner, Intown Cares, after they completed our Cooperative Patheway Program. With us providing logistical support, food, and reporting and Intown providing co-op leadership, funding, and space, we together serve our co-op members at Parish Grove Retirement home! These members meet every two weeks to swap food, laughs and stories across multiple languages. Their biggest food request: nothing too spicy!
