“E” is for Early Detection

Stay up to date on your screenings and encourage your loved ones to do the same! Talk with your provider today.

“D” is for DNA 🧬

DNA stands for deoxyribonucleic acid. Your DNA is the blueprint for YOUR body! Understanding genetic factors and changes in this blueprint can help navigate increased cancer risks and guide treatment decisions.

Knowledge of your DNA and being able to provide that important information to family members is a powerful tool in prevention and care. Ask your provider if genetic testing or counseling might be right for you or your family!

“C” is for Clinical Trial

Clinical trials are an important part of advancing cancer care. Advancements can help give patients access to new and promising treatments as researchers continue to grow, improve, and evolve better ways to fight cancer.

At UCBC, we are proud to have and support our very own clinical trial team! They provide opportunities for patients to explore trial options as part of their care journey.

June is National Cancer Survivor Month💜

This month, we recognize the strength, resilience, and courage of cancer survivors in our community. Every survivor journey is unique and each story is a testament of hope.

We also want to recognize the caregivers, providers, and support systems who all walk alongside them every step of the way!

Please join us this month as we honor all survivors!

Continuing our ABC’s of Cancer series with “B” for Biopsy!

Biopsies are often one of the first steps of understanding a diagnosis, if there is one at all. By taking a small sample of tissue, providers can use this information to determine whether or not cancer is present and what type it may be.

This process can be intimidating, but it is crucial in coming up with a personalized plan for the next steps. Swipe to learn about the different types of biopsy procedures that could be done!

Thank you Layla for making and donating such sweet activity bags for our patients and their families! Each bag includes a handwritten note with a sweet, encouraging message. Since kids are not allowed in our treatment areas, these bags have been a gift to them while they wait for their loved ones to finish receiving treatment.

If you need some entertainment next time you're in the building, ask for one of Layla's activity bags! 🖍️📓❤️
