Business Hours 10am-6pm Mon-Fri
Rehearsal Space Hours 12pm-12am daily In 1999, the Phillips family of Atlanta formed the Nuçi Phillips Memorial Foundation in memory of their 22-year-old son and brother Nuçi, who in 1996 killed himself after a long battle with major depression. Nuçi was a talented musician and a promising student at the University of Georgia in Athens. Having lived the course of Nu

çi’s illness with him, the family recognized the need for obstacle free, user-friendly ways of treating and supporting those who suffer from depression and other such disorders. With a focus on Nuçi’s fellow musicians, the nonprofit Foundation created Nuçi’s Space. It is a support/resource center dedicated to promoting the emotional, physical and occupational well-being of the music community. With a staff of musicians, under the guidance of founder Linda Phillips, the center provides a stable caring environment. For many, such an environment is all that is required to impart a sense of worth and value. They are referred to a group of off-site, licensed professional therapists who work closely with Nuçi’s Space to deliver affordable treatment. Since most musicians who use Nuçi’s Space have no health insurance, they are asked to pay a nominal fee and Nuçi’s Space pays the balance. In addition, a physician volunteers his services twice a month to see uninsured musicians with minor ailments. Working with an audiologist and an optometrist, the Space assists musicians in attaining professional grade earplugs and eyeglasses for a very low cost. To address occupational needs, the Space provides four soundproof practice rooms, a performance area, a library and a coffee bar. Musicians as well as a variety of artists perform to benefit the Space. Career and health workshops are conducted along with other topics of interest. A Survivors of Suicide Support Group for anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide meets monthly (among other support groups). Nuçi’s Space is unique because of its pragmatic approach, its simplicity and its effectiveness. All who pass through are valued and respected for their own individual creativity. The physical benefits of the building itself are never separated from the emotional benefits. In fact, they compliment each other. The supportive, accepting environment is key to the well-being of those who use the Space. Since opening its doors in September 2000, Nuçi’s Space has helped hundreds of musicians, artists and just “plain people” to receive professional counseling. For every person helped, countless others benefit, including family, friends and community. Nuçi’s Space encourages appropriate treatment for Depression, Anxiety and other brain disorders and is committed to the fight against the stigma attached to such illnesses.

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we want to thank you for following along, supporting our mission, and helping us continue the work of su***de prevention and mental health advocacy in our community. 💚

In 2025 alone, Nuçi’s Space helped connect community members with more than 2,500 healthcare appointments, including EMDR therapy through one of our newest care providers, The Brannen Center here in Athens.

To close out the month, we’re sharing this video from Aura Morris, owner and clinical director of The Brannen Center, explaining a bit more about EMDR therapy and how it can help people process trauma, anxiety, and other mental health challenges.

We’re grateful to partner with providers like The Brannen Center as we continue working to connect more people with accessible care, increase mental health awareness, and break down the stigma surrounding mental health.

Thank you for being part of this community and for helping us remind each other that we are never alone. 💙

As Mental Health Awareness Month continues, we’re honored to share another “My Nuçi’s Space Story” from former Camp Amped camper and current Sound Check instructor, Alix Murray. 💚🤘

Alix’s story is one that many current and former campers will relate to—finding community, confidence, belonging, and a safe place to grow through music and connection. We’re especially proud that many of our current Camp Amped instructors first came through our doors as campers themselves.

Our Youth Support Programs are one of the most important parts of our outreach. We believe it’s essential to help young musicians entering the world of creative work to understand and navigate mental health challenges, while encouraging open conversations and support systems early on.

This summer alone, we are on track to welcome more than 100 campers into our programs between May and July, and we’ve already provided over $10,000 in scholarships to help make these experiences accessible to more young people in our community.

Thank you, Alix, for sharing your story and for continuing to help create the same sense of home and belonging for the next generation of campers! 💙

As Mental Health Awareness Month continues, we’re honored to share another “My Nuçi’s Space Story” from local musician and Camp Amped instructor Shauna Harris. 💚

Shauna’s story is a powerful testament to the life-saving impact of compassion, connection, and showing up for one another in moments of crisis. We are deeply grateful to Shauna for sharing her experience. Stories like hers remind us why this work matters and why continuing to reduce stigma around mental health is so important.

You are not alone, there is always hope, and we are here to help. We are so glad you’re here. 💙

👀🚨 BE ON THE LOOKOUT 🚨👀

We’re currently looking for a blacktop Fender Telecaster with 2 humbuckers. This guitar is one of the workhorses of our rental fleet and youth programs, and it’s deeply missed around here. The pickups have a rare half-rail / half-pole-piece design and we have the serial number on file so it’s easily identified.

If you accidentally ended up with it, or spot it anywhere, please help us get it back home to Nuçi’s Space ASAP.

No questions asked, we just want this beloved Tele back where it belongs. 💙
