Georgia 4-H prepares the youth of today with the necessary skills to become the leaders of tomorrow.

A part of the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension, Georgia 4-H reaches hundreds of thousands of young people every year. Georgia 4-H is an organization in which youth and adults learn, grow, and work together as catalysts for positive change!

Agriculture and civic engagement merged in the show ring on Friday during the Legislative Livestock Showdown! Ten members of the Georgia House of Representatives and the Georgia State Senate learned to show dairy heifers with 4-H'ers and FFA members serving as their expert coaches. The House took home the victory this year as Rep. John Corbett and Houston Co. 4-H'er Colton Orwick were named champions. Georgia 4-H is proud to partner with Georgia Department of Agriculture , Georgia Grown, Georgia National Fair and Georgia FFA Association for this special event. 🍀🐄

Our state officers are GOING GREEN this week and every week! These young leaders represent their peers and serve more than 200,000 4-H'ers as elected members of the Georgia 4-H State Board of Directors. 🍀🍀🍀🍀

The 2026-2027 board includes Leo Barak from Glynn County, Ben Dean from Grady County, Kylan Ferrell from Floyd County, Langston Bradley from Terrell County, Greyson Christmas from Ware County, Audrey Hanson from Spalding County, Diya Patel from Screven County, Blair Smith from Oconee County, and Levi Birch from Oconee County.

Forestry field days and Forestry Judging empower youth to be good stewards of Georgia's natural resources and wildlife habitats. 🌳 Contestants learn to identify 70 tree species found in Georgia, study the most common insects and diseases that impact our forests, and use pacing, compasses, and other tools to estimate timber volume. Burke County took home first place at the contest last week at the Georgia Forestry Commission in Macon!
