Last week, our community came together to support families facing cancer. ❀

On August 26, The Cancer Foundation hosted a Mobile Food Pantry, providing free groceries to households impacted by cancer across our community.

Cancer affects far more than a person’s health. Treatment can disrupt work, increase household expenses, and make something as basic as putting nutritious food on the table more difficult. Through our Nutritional Assistance Program, The Cancer Foundation helps ensure that patients and their families have access to the food they need while navigating cancer treatment.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this Mobile Food Pantry possible and to the volunteers who gave their time to serve our neighbors. Days like this demonstrate what can happen when a community comes together around a shared purpose.

The Cancer Foundation is proud to be a Member Agency of the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia, whose partnership helps us strengthen food access for families affected by cancer.

Together, we are helping alleviate the financial burden of cancer, one family at a time.

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Christy a 2026 Champion of Hope.

For Christy, the decision to become a Champion of Hope is deeply personal. Her mom is a breast cancer survivor, and she gets to watch her sister, Katrina, and experience the passion Katrina has daily for the patients she gets to assist through her work at The Cancer Foundation.

Through those experiences, Christy saw firsthand something that can easily be overlooked, the financial burden that comes with a cancer diagnosis and the everyday bills that don’t stop when treatment begins.

That is Christy’s “why.”

She’s using her voice to be a Champion of Hope to help make sure local cancer patients and their families have somewhere to turn when those financial burdens become too much.

Cancer touches all of us in some way. That's why these remarkable community leaders have stepped forward to become our 2026 Champions of Hope.

Over the next 10 weeks, they'll be sharing their stories, raising awareness, and inviting others to help local cancer patients overcome the financial burdens that often accompany treatment.
