Celebrating a Special Part of Athens History

The City of Athens had the privilege of recognizing two remarkable women who share a special connection to our community’s history as part of Cook School’s 100th anniversary celebration.

Ann Buchanan, 94, was crowned Cook School Homecoming Queen in 1950, while Minnie Long, 96, was crowned Homecoming Queen in 1946.

As part of Saturday’s centennial celebration, both women were once again presented with Homecoming Queen tiaras in recognition of their place in Cook School’s history.

Congratulations to Ann Buchanan and Minnie Long, and thank you for helping us celebrate a century of Cook School and a wonderful piece of Athens history!
