On June 4th at or around 1 am Alex Gambrell went on to be with the LORD. He was riding on a straight away on the dragons tail and hit a deer. The officer assured Tonya that he did not suffer. He was one of a kind. He had been a police officer for 20 years, student and graduate of Miracle Lake, loving son, father to two boys which he loved dearly, husband to Tonya (Graduate and valued staff member at WATW) but most of all he loved Jesus and he loved people. Children loved him. He was not ashamed to share his faith. I want to share a few Alex stories.

When Tonya first started dating Alex I was not sure about him. She told me he was a Miracle Lake graduate and had some prior issues to get resolved but assured me he loved the LORD and he had changed his life. My first words after she told me that was run don’t walk away from this relationship. Well as it turned out I was wrong, when I met him I loved him. He stole mine and Tommy’s heart, that’s what Alex did and I’m so glad she did not take my initial advise. The picture is she and Alex at their wedding. It was the first event in the WATW chapel.

After that one winter it snowed and as you can imagine the driveway at WATW was ice. So Alex said he would bring his flame thrower to thaw it. I imagined a huge flame like you see in the movies. Much to my surprise I looked down in front of my house and there was Alex with his flame thrower. It was not what I had imagined. It was a tiny flame and I guess he spent and hour in the cold and thawed maybe a 3x3 square. He just wanted to help. That’s what Alex did.

This one only Tonya and a few others will know but there was that incident with a cane and India. Can’t explain that one you just had to be there but I laughed so hard I could not breath. That’s what Alex did.

He brought joy and laughter. I will always remember Alex with pleasant thoughts. Love always, Your other mother (as you would call me) Mrs Robin

I don’t have the words to express the sadness that comes with this post…Alex went to be with Jesus around 1:00 a.m. this morning. Our hearts are broken but we have peace knowing that he is with the Lord. If you knew Alex you loved him or I’m convinced something was very bad wrong with you! 😂😂😂(The joke was for my husband who I will love til the end and miss until I see him again!)
I don’t have many details yet and please forgive me if I don’t respond right away. ALL the love and prayers are so appreciated!!!
