AoB has a ton of programs and events on the calendar for this summer. This week (6/14 - 6/20) continues the community ride series with Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ Asheville. Through these photos, Sam Bennett has captured some of the joy and adventure that comes from riding your city!

On Friday, ride out to Downtown after 5 for a Juneteenth celebration. We’ll be in Pack Square so you can roll up and secure your bike (or scooters, one-wheels, strollers!) with our bike valet attendants. Special thanks to Dewey Property Advisors for sponsoring this service at DTA5.

Have tickets for Local Natives at Burial Beer Forestry Camp Taproom & Restaurant on Saturday? AoB will offer bike valet that evening from 5PM to 10PM! Join us for a ride to the venue from the Burial Beer Co. South Slope Taproom taproom at 4:30PM. Find more details on all these events through our website under the “Events” menu or on our Ride With GPS account!

What’s better than a Wednesday evening pedal through Asheville in the spring? 🌺

It’s hard to beat — rolling at a relaxed pace with good company, discovering the nooks and crannies that make our city special, and good food and beverages at Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ Asheville afterwards.

This week we’re venturing into north Asheville from downtown. Will we see a real bear before Bears BBQ? There’s only one way to find out!

All bikes are welcome, including e-bikes. Charge your lights, bring water and a helmet!

Are you free this Wednesday? We’ve made it to Week 3 of our community rides, and you’re invited! These rides are all about enjoying good company while riding the city. This week our 5-mile route features a natural surface from the Beaucatcher Trail. Expect some climbing to experience some of these beautiful corners of Asheville. As always, no one will be left behind. We’ve designed our route to include spots to regroup, and the route may be shortened to get us all back to Bear’s around 7:30PM. All participants who sign the waiver will receive another entry towards winning a bike from New Belgium x Fairdale!

We had a blast at our first Bears ride - the sun came out just in time for our excursion! This week we’ve got a 7 mile route for you. It’s a short and sweet loop that features a few of our favorite neighborhood roads to ride in by the RAD and West Asheville. Last week, some of our youth program coaches had debrief meeting of this semester’s Bike Club, picnic-style! Did you know we run afterschool bike instruction at Asheville Middle School? With the Asheville City Schools Foundation, we are partnered with In Real Life (IRL) to offer this program. Our Bike Club is the longest running school-based bicycle education program in NC. Students learn how to wear safety gear, operate and maintain their equipment, and navigate traffic on a bike. We build in plenty of time and activities that allow students to safely practice navigating on two wheels. By the end of the program, they have real experience using a bicycle for transportation.
