Right before the start of Goombay, our Executive Director was the keynote speaker for Paine College’s SGA Day!

We are grateful to all of the people, bands, vendors, volunteers, board members, community leaders, children and out of town guests who made Goombay possible.

We recognize and hear the feedback! there is always more to do and ways to do it better…but we recognize that in this moment where people of African descent are in a recession of sorts, it is a wonder that the festival could even happen at all.

This festival had two months to materialize with two professional staff making it happen. And while we did our best, we are deeply grateful for all the people who said yes I’ll help, and who helped in every way possible way that they could.

Some volunteers started with us on Friday, woke up at 5am on Saturday and just went home a few minutes ago. Know that we are grateful for that kind of commitment, and generosity of time.

On another note: If you’d like to help make the festival stronger and better, we invite you to sign up on our volunteer list for the next Goombay!
