Situated on ten acres, Animal Haven of Asheville rescues and rehabilitates farm animals. Animal Haven of Asheville receives no city, county, or state funding.

Founded in May of 2000 by Barbara Bellows and Trina Hudson, Animal Haven of Asheville is a 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization that provides food, shelter and veterinary care to homeless and abused farm animals. We are a unique sanctuary in Western NC offering cage free living, a lifetime home for those not adopted, and a "hands on" humane education program for people of all ages. Animal Haven of Asheville works with the local Meals on Wheels program providing pet food assistance, enabling those senior citizens whose only companion is their pet to keep them. We have an on-site 1,500 square foot, volunteer-run thrift shop, the proceeds of which directly benefit the animals in our care. We operate our sanctuary through private donations, fundraisers, grants, mailings, and our thrift store. We are a volunteer-based organization. For more information call 828-299-1635 or visit our website. Sanctuary and Thrift Store hours this week:
Wednesday 11am-5pm
Thursday 11am-5pm
Friday 11am-5pm
Saturday 11am-5pm

The “babies” really look up to us. Of course that’s probably because they know we have animal crackers in our pockets but we will take what we can get!

We would like to thank Shearon Roberts and Grace Episcopal Church for their donation of pumpkins and wheat straw for our animals. Shearon said that:
“This is a win win win for me. The pumpkins come from a Navajo reservation in New Mexico to us, we make $ for our progress in Haiti, and Animal Haven gets something for their sanctuary!! Love wins!!”
We love this sentiment and really appreciate them thinking of us! The goats, pigs and chickens are all very excited to have one of their favorite healthy treats to snack on!

Happy Halloween from all of us at Animal Haven. Relax to the sound of Tulsi enjoying bobbing for apples! Does anybody care to join her? What plans do you all have for today?

“We cannot do all the good the world needs but the world needs all the good we can do. “ Jana Stanfield

For 25 years Trina poured her heart and soul into “doing good” for the animals. Last year Andrea took over and is continuing to “do good” caring for all that Animal Haven stands for. Our community and our animals are lucky to have these two making a difference for the animals in our little slice of heaven.

It’s a good day to be happy! Laugh a lot, be kind and enjoy the little things. Take nothing for granted. Life is better when you are sharing things with your friends. Have a great rest of your week, the weekends almost here!

I had a thought, then I had another thought…then they bounced off of each other and I can’t find either one…
BooBoo is our resident clown. He has the most expressive face. He also manages to get into everything. With his size we can’t keep anything out of his reach - he is a very curious fellow and loves to check out everything often getting himself into trouble. From living tied up to a tree to living a life free to roam and very much loved. That’s rescue!

Pick a book and read to a friend but don’t let the goats nibble the end!

When you’re through, please return it here, so our hungry goats don’t make it disappear!

This library was donated by our friend, volunteer and supporter Laure.
Please note, the books are the property of Animal Haven.

Love all. Not just one.
Let’s love ALL beings.
Fear and love feels the same for all of these animals. They can all feel pain and suffer. Why do we think we should love and protect one but not the others?
FYI- Both the Sanctuary and Thrift store will be closed today to celebrate Veganfest. Hope to see you there!

Angels can appear in your life in many different forms. Bob is an angel on earth and our most senior goat. He gets special privileges like eating by himself in peace in the feed room. Afterwards he gets his daily kiss on the nose and some snacks.
Here he is trying to help himself to apples. 🍎 Andrea calls it “ Bob” ing for apples!😂 Guess we weren't quick enough the with snacks that day!
The Sanctuary and Thrift Store will be closed this Sunday for VeganFest. We hope to see you there.
