Another early walk in Weaverville at the Main Street Nature Park. We will be meeting at 8am on Thursday, May 28th, at the Pine Street entrance.

Please note, that this park does have some steeper changes in elevation. We recommend comfortable walking shoes. Also, there is an entrance off of Main Street itself. This has a large staircase going down into the park, which is why we have elected to start at the other entrance. There is a parking lot at both entrances. There are a couple port-a-johns in the park, but the nearest full restrooms are available in the businesses along Main Street. We have extra binoculars that are available for use. Everyone is welcome, always!

Sorry if early walks aren’t your jam, but we are trying to make the most of migration! Stay tuned for June, where we have some different events in the works that aren’t walks!

We are making the most of migration- hosting two walks in May to hopefully get glimpses of the variety of warblers that make Asheville a pit-stop on their journey!

Meet us bright and early at the entrance of the boardwalk at Beaver Lake Bird Sanctuary! We will start at 8am, on Sunday, May 17th.

The path is a wooden boardwalk, slightly uneven here and there. We recommend comfortable walking shoes. The closest restrooms are at the nearby library, a short but uphill walk. Parking can be sparse here. Besides the main parking lot for the sanctuary, there is also parking in the library parking lot, and the further lots near Fresh Market. We have extra binoculars that are available for use. Everyone is welcome, always!

We’re doing a pop up to see woodcocks!! Known as timberdoodles, bog suckers, or Labrador twisters, these little guys do their amazing aerial courtship flights at dusk, coupled with their cute “peent” calls! Join us to hopefully see or hear these cuties!

We will be meeting at the Norco Tract of the Sandy Mush Gamelands (located at the coordinates 35.7294789, -82.6963050). We will also be walking to the Bear Creek Entrance and may be going between the spots to better find the birds.

We recommend bringing your own blanket or chair (though we will have some extras) and wearing long pants and long socks (just in case of ticks or other critters). Please let us know if you have any questions! Hope to see you there!

We had such a great time enjoying the birds and flowers today at the botanical gardens. Thank you to everyone who made it out for our walk! Spending time with old friends and several new faces was such a breath of fresh air to kick off the start of spring.

Photos include a group shot of the club members who came to the walk, various flowers (including: trillium, oconee bells, trout lilly, geranium, Allegheny spurge, and spring beauty), and a short video of a sweet chickadee leaving a nest box to collect more nesting material!

Spring is here!! Let’s go enjoy the spring ephemerals that are just starting to pop up at the botanical gardens and look for birds along the way!

We’ll meet at the Asheville Botanical Gardens at 10am on Sun, March 15th. Everyone welcome! Extra bins always available! Please keep in mind there are some stairs, inclines, and uneven terrain.

The original walk was cancelled due to the snowstorm, but now we’d love to waddle with you in search of some migrating water fowl! We will be meeting by the docks at Lake Julian Park (37 LAKE JULIAN RD, Arden, NC 28704) on Wednesday, the 25th at noon! Hope to see you there!

There are restrooms for available. Extra binoculars available. We suggest comfy shoes because even though we probably won’t be walking far, there is some uneven terrain.

DAY AND TIME CHANGED! Because of the very cold weather on the 1st, we though that the bird sit would be more comfy on a little bit warmer of a day- so we are instead meeting at High Five Coffee in Woodfin (2000 Riverside Dr) on Wed, 2/4 at 12pm instead!

Sorry for having to move things around so much! Thanks for your patience with this weather being so unpredictable!
But if you can, join us for coffee, company, and some relaxed birding. Bring blankets/chairs and your arts/crafts too if you’d like! We’ll be hanging out for a while!

Because of inclement weather, we are postponing our walk! We hope everyone is prepared and stays safe!

If we have power on Sunday(big if), we will be hanging out in discord! Check our link in our linktree in bio for it! We’ll be watching a movie (maybe The Big Year), sharing what backyard birds we see at our feeder, and just chatting!

We hope you’ll be joining us for our presentation night! We will be meeting at Cultivated Cocktails (161 Charlotte Hwy, Unit A, Asheville, NC 28803) on Feb 18th, starting at 5pm. We can get food, drinks, and then dive in to the presentations! Please RSVP with the first link on our linktree!

It started as an idea to have a science fair, but we didn’t want to limit the subjects. So, we are going to get together, learn from each other, and have fun seeing what others are passionate about. Please try to shoot for a 5-15 min presentation to make sure we have time for everyone!

You can choose any topic that you are really interested in (be that bird-related or not, serious or funny)- examples: a tutorial of your favorite craft, a tier list of stardew valley bachelors/bachlorettes, an explanation of string theory, a dramatic retelling of your favorite obscure romantasy book/fanfic, a statistical analysis of rock/paper/scissors, an in-depth look into the mating habits of bowerbirds, recounting the history of q***r symbolism, and make a presentation!

Please bear in mind that since this is a public space, there may not be many plugs or any way to project a computer presentation, so please plan accordingly. We will have a laptop that we can gather around.
