One more big step toward opening the Photo Opp Community Darkroom. 🖤

One of the biggest challenges we faced was something that seems simple: a window.

In a darkroom, “blackout” isn’t good enough. We need *complete* darkness. After trying several solutions, we found the right one with Mono Blinds a true light-tight solution that still lets us use the window for fresh air and natural light when the darkroom isn’t in use.

It might seem like a small detail, but getting these details right is what turns an empty room into a working darkroom.

We’re getting closer, and we can’t wait to open the doors and start making prints with all of you.

And a huge thank you to Mono Blinds for helping us cross another major hurdle.

Building a community darkroom meant solving some unique challenges, and one of the biggest was a large window that needed to be completely light tight. Here's how the right solution helped us create a space that's both functional and ready for photographers.

For the second year in a row our photo walkers hit the pavement at Mile of Music in downtown Appleton.  Once again, this stellar event gave us some really great snaps.  Because it takes place at many venues on a long stretch of College Ave, there is opportunity to capture classic live music performance scenes, as well as candid street snaps of folks hopping from stage to stage.  We hope you enjoy these photos captured by a few of the photographers who participated in our walk.

Wisconsin artists submit up to three pieces, and there is no submission fee. Whether you create cyanotypes, salt prints, film soup, emulsion lifts, collage, sculptural photography, digital manipulation, experimental processes, or something entirely your own, we want to see your work.
