We are especially grateful to Meghan Gordon and our wonderful friends at SavATree for helping make the day possible—even when the sky had other plans. Because the rain slowed things down, we’re asking our community to help us get over the rainbow 🌈

🌳 BIG TREE HUNT COUNTY WINNER 🌳

This week, we are celebrating the Big Tree Hunt winner for Emmet County!

🏆 Tree Species: Black walnut (Juglans nigra)
📏 Circumference: 126 inches
📍 Location: Petoskey, Emmet County
🌱 Nominated by: Mark Stringer

This black walnut was identified as the largest tree submitted in Emmet County. This season, ReLeaf Michigan’s work in Emmet County includes both recognizing this Big Tree Hunt winner and planting 20 new trees at Spring Lake Park in Bear Creek Township. These new trees will support the park renovation, help create a buffer from the road, and support water filtration. Stay tuned for more spring planting highlights and future fall opportunities.

🌳 BIG TREE HUNT COUNTY WINNER 🌳

This week, we are celebrating the Big Tree Hunt winner for Eaton County!

🏆 Tree Species: Silver maple (Acer saccharinum)
📏 Circumference: 244.5 inches
📍 Location: Grand Ledge, Eaton County
🌱 Nominated by: Jessica Lowe

This silver maple was identified as the largest tree submitted in Eaton County. This tree is also a Potential State Champion and was reviewed by the Michigan Botanical Society Big Tree Program, which ranked it as the 4th-largest silver maple in the state! Trees like this remind us why planting today matters. ReLeaf Michigan continues to plant trees across the state each season, helping grow the next generation of Michigan’s canopy.

🌳🎉 That’s a wrap on ReLeaf Michigan’s Spring 2026 tree planting season! 🎉🌳And what a way to finish — with 40 trees planted today in Fraser, Michigan! 🌱💚 We’re ending the season on a high branch and with a full heart!

A huge THANK YOU to all of the volunteers who came out to roll up your sleeves with us🪴👏 Your energy, hard work, and enthusiasm helped make today’s planting (and the entire season 🌳) an unbe-leafable success!

We’re also incredibly grateful for the support of the Consumers Energy Foundation🌳 and extend our sincere thanks to Mayor Michael Lesich, the City of Fraser, Michigan - Government , Fraser Beautification Club, and the Fraser First Booster Club, Inc. for helping make this day possible!

From shovels to smiles, Fraser helped us close out the season in tree-mendous style🌳😄 Here’s to a greener future, one tree at a time!
