SO excited to share our first speaker for our upcoming fundraiser at Hear.Say Brewing + Theater “Night for the Books” coming up on 9/17/26! We are so, so (so! so!) lucky to have Michelle leading the line up!!

Michelle Silverthorn is a nationally recognized keynote speaker, bestselling author, workplace culture strategist, and the reigning Ms. Michigan Corporate America.

A graduate of Princeton University and the University of Michigan Law School, Michelle began her career as an attorney before becoming a leading voice on leadership, belonging, and professional advancement. She is the founder and CEO of Inclusion Nation and the creator of the THRIVE framework, which equips professionals and leaders to clarify what they want, navigate assumptions, build influential relationships, increase their visibility, and create meaningful change without abandoning the life they have already built.

Michelle has delivered transformative programs for Fortune 500 companies, global law firms, universities, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. Her work has been featured by NPR, PBS, Fortune, Bloomberg, and the Chicago Tribune.

We’ve intentionally designed this event to be welcoming and accessible to everyone in our community, with a range of ticket prices and a relaxed, community-centered atmosphere.

Whether you’re a lifelong book lover, a parent, an educator, or simply someone who believes every child deserves the chance to become a reader, we’d love to have you there.

The ANNE M. HAYES MEMORIAL FUND PROGRAM GRANT was established in 1996 by Douglas A. Hayes, professor emeritus of Finance at the University of Michigan, in memory of his late wife Anne, a civic leader and longtime Ann Arbor Thrift Shop volunteer. The income from the endowment fund is distributed annually through a grant application process to social service agencies serving clients in Washtenaw County. The program focus for 2026 is Youth Programs.

Meet Nadia! 🌟 A legal scholar from Aotearoa, New Zealand, Nadia serves as one of CLN's incredible volunteers supporting BOTH our In-person and Virtual BookPALS programs. "I came to Ann Arbor for Michigan Law's doctoral program. I was looking for a way to get involved in the local community and the Children's Literacy Network looked like a great fit. Beyond the joy and solace that reading brings, I am often reminded in my research of how a person's language skills impact their quality of access to justice and ability to participate in democratic processes." We're so grateful for Nadia, her enthusiasm, and all our volunteers who make this work possible.
