On Saturday August 8th At 11:24 pm Matcom/Ak State Troopers contacted Anchorage Search Team for a search. APD requested help in locating Michael Vogues, missing vulnerable adult missing from Arctic blvd / International road.

Incident command contacted the lead officer with APD. They had just received a tip that the subject had been seen in midtown. IC stood by for update while putting K9 assets from Northpaw K9 Search and recovery on standby . At 12:14 APD informed IC the tip did not pan out and subject was still missing.

Mission accepted and at 12:19 am Sunday the 9th and all team page was issued for Anchorage Search Team, Northpaw K9 as well as a telephone call to ASARD (Alaska Search & Rescue dogs) for Wilderness teams.

Incident command was physically established a few minutes before 1 am.

Search efforts were conducted through out the night and at approximately 9 am subject was located safe.

As always thank you to all the volunteers of the teams that always selfishly answer the call day or night, rain, shine or snow to help bring loved ones home. 🙏

As we are all a 100% volunteer , nonprofit 501 (c) 3 organization it truly is amazing the exceptional people I have the absolute privilege Of working with side by side.

From bringing up out of state trainers, maintaining mission critical equipment such as our MIC - Mobile Incident Command rig, safety equipment, and many more things.

Think your dog has what it takes to do MORE than chase squirrels and steal your spot on the couch? 😏

North Paw K9 Search & Recovery is RECRUITING! 🐕‍🦺

We’re looking for dedicated people who want to turn their passion for dogs into a purpose—and train alongside their K9 to help bring missing people home. ❤️

🐾 WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

✔️ People who already have their own dog
✔️ Dogs preferably 2 years old or younger
✔️ Drive, commitment, and a willingness to TRAIN
✔️ People who understand this is a volunteer commitment
✔️ A willingness to learn, work as a team, and respond when the community needs us

🐶 Have an older dog? Don’t automatically count yourself out! Depending on the dog’s health, drive, temperament, and abilities, older dogs may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

This isn’t about having the “perfect” dog.

It’s about finding the right team—human + K9—and building the skills to make a difference.

🌲 Search the woods.
🏙️ Search the city.
🐾 Follow the K9.
❤️ Help bring someone home.

No paycheck. No glory. Just purpose.

This is a volunteer position, and our members put in the time, training, sweat, and dedication because when someone’s family is waiting for them to come home, every minute matters.

Happy birthday to North Paws Raven. She is 4 years old today. Part of the first litter of Boxelder Bloodhounds … she has proven to be a handful since she was about 3 weeks old. She loves her cat food - well any food at the end of her trail.
