At Anchorage Senior Activity Center (ASAC) our mission is to enhance the quality of life of Alaskans by promoting fitness, health and wellness and social interaction. With the space and services offered, Anchorage area seniors have a place to exercise, socialize and be a productive part of the community. Volunteers and members share that after retirement, they desired a place to be involved. Weekl
y Social Hour sees between 30 and 60 participants and many express their thanks for a place to get together. Lydia shares, “We come to dance and chat. We look forward to seeing each other all week and I can’t imagine what I would be doing if I wasn’t here. It would sure be a lonely time.”
On average, 200 seniors and community members daily are engaged in the thousands of activities each month that include a wide variety of programs. The following are some of the programs that ASAC offers:
• Fitness Center with Personal Training and Massage
• 42 Aerobic and Anaerobic Classes a week
• Medicare Information Office
