The NSIP Center of the Nation Sale will feature a farm tour and educational program on Friday, July 25. Over the next week we will be highlighting some of the individual sessions. To see the full schedule go to https://nsip.org/home/events/center-of-the-nation-nsip-sale/ Preregistration is required and can be made at https://go.ncsu.edu/nsipeducationalprogram

One session that may be of interest to producers is a panel discussion where four producers of terminal sire breeds will share a little about their operations, lessons learned, and how they have utilized Estimated Breeding Values to improve their flocks. Producers who will be on the panel include Gavin Blonquist, Alan Culham, Mark Roembke, and Curt Stanley. The panel will be moderated by NSIP Second Vice-chair, Brenda Reau, and the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panelists.

Gavin Blonquist and his sons manage 150 Suffolk ewes in the Blonquist Brothers and Bunkerhill Farm flocks in Coalville, Utah. Long-time NSIP breeder, Alan Culham has 60 Suffolk ewes in his operation in Webberville, Michigan. Mark Roembke is located in Cedarburg, Wisconsin where he has a flock of 30 Hampshire ewes. Curt Stanley runs 60 Dorset ewes on his operation in Bismark, North Dakota. Participants in the educational program will enjoy learning about these diverse operations located across the country.
