Iowa VERB Summer Scorecard Program

The VERB Summer Finale is being held at Emma McCarthy Lee Park in Ames on Saturday, August 2nd from 1:00-4:00pm. Eligible VERB participants who have completed and turned in a scorecard will be entered into a drawing for sports equipment, bicycles, and one lucky child will receive a Nintendo Wii!
All kids of any age are welcome to attend this event and test their skills on the 3-in-1 Sports Challenge and attempt to get through the 65' Challenger Obstacle Course. We encourage parents and kids to come learn about ExerCYse is Medicine and VERB Summer Scorecard and how these great programs are making our community a healthier place.

Sign up for VERB today at www.iowaVERB.org and come win prizes on Saturday, June 7th from 1-3pm outside the Forker Building on the Iowa State Campus. Games include tennis drills, disc golf challenge, football skills competition, fun fitness testing, and more!

Iowa VERB Summer Scorecard 2014 will begin on June 7th with a super kick-off event at the Forker Building on the Iowa State Campus at 1:00pm and will continue all summer long with Cool Deals and more Fun Events.

Good Afternoon!

The VERB team wanted to send a special thanks to all the families who came to the finale event this past Saturday at Furman Aquatic Center, we had a blast! Also, thank you to all the kids and parents who participated in the VERB program this summer, we hope to see everyone (plus more!) at the events next year:)

Hello All,

There's still opportunities for your children to get their scorecards completed! All scorecards should be turned into the designated Parks and Rec offices (look on back of scorecard) by Thursday, August 1st. Children can still bring their completed and incomplete scorecards to the finale event on August 3rd at the Furman Aquatic Center from 6:30-9pm.

For each completed scorecard, the VERB child will receive one raffle ticket that they can put into a prize box. All kids who are in attendance at the finale will be given one extra raffle ticket to put in the grand prize box. If your child cannot be at the finale then they are not eligible for the grand prize and you must turn in their scorecards to the Parks and Rec offices and email [email protected] with what prize your child will want their raffle ticket(s) in.


Finale Schedule:
6:30pm- VERB kids, their parents and siblings get into Furman Aquatic Center for FREE (Must say you are with the VERB program to get in for free)

7-7:30pm- Black Market Pizza, juice and snacks will be served

7:30-8pm- Raffle and Prizes: Prizes consist of Edge Disc Golf Pack, Bag Toss, Remote Control Car, an ISU basketball and small prize pack, an ISU football and small prize pack, Skunk River Cycles gift pack, Ames Yoga Center gift pack, Theisen's $50 gift card and a grand finale prize of $200 gift card to Bike World

8-9:00pm- Swim (lazy river and tube slides reserved for VERB kids and families only! Woo!)

We highly encourage that you and your kids stick around for the 8-9 swim. The Aquatic Center staff is staying on duty an extra hour just for VERB!

Wednesday, July 31st 5-6:30pm Story City Park Disc Golf Course in Story City

Saturday, August 3rd 6:30-9pm Grand Finale at Furman Aquatic Center!

As VERB is coming to the end of the program, be sure to finish filling out your scorecards!

Thursday: Evening Family Fishing at 7:30pm

Capture the Flag at noon is CANCELLED today.

But you can still join us for the Naturalists Lunchbox Scavenger Hunt at McFarland Park at noon and Family Canoeing at Don Williams Lake from 2:30-4pm:)

Bring your lunch, spread a blanket, and join a naturalist for a Friday picnic in the park. Each ‘lunchbox’ will feature a nature topic that we’ll experience through stories and activities. The program is free, appropriate for all ages, and will be held inside in case of inclement weather.

Tomorrow night is Evening Family Fishing with Boone County Conservation at 7:30pm! All your kids need to do is show up. She has plenty of poles and other things to teach your kids to fish!

Boone County Conservation has 32 fishing poles, all the tackle, and bait available for free use. Anyone over the age of 16 that wants to go fishing will need to have a fishing license ($19/year can be purchased at Walmart). Otherwise, you can just show up and fish!

Don't forget MIDNIGHT MADNESS run/jog is tomorrow at 7pm! VERB kids will all be wearing their shirts (let us know if they need one) and will be announced! This is a very exciting event, and we hope to see many of you there :)
