Celebrating One Year of Leadership

Today marks one year since Chief Trent Lindgren was installed as Chief of Police for the Alpharetta Police Department. Much of the work of a Police Chief happens behind the scenes, through countless meetings, difficult decisions, strategic planning, relationship-building, and the daily responsibility of moving an organization forward.

Throughout his first year, Chief Lindgren has worked tirelessly to strengthen the Alpharetta Police Department and advance its mission. He has continued to build strong partnerships with City leadership, the Alpharetta City Council, community stakeholders, and public safety partners, helping ensure our department remains positioned to meet the evolving needs of the City of Alpharetta.

His leadership has emphasized professionalism, accountability, transparency, organizational growth, community trust, and maintaining the high standards expected of our profession.
Leadership is not defined by a title or a single moment. It is reflected in the decisions made every day, particularly the difficult ones, and in the commitment to continuously improve the organization and the service we provide to our community.

After 32 years of dedicated service, Detective Darwin Dawson has officially retired, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy of service to the Alpharetta community as both a police officer and firefighter.

We are grateful for the decades Detective Dawson devoted to protecting our community and for the lasting impact he has made on those who live, work, and play in Alpharetta.

PLEASE SHARE: HELP PROTECT OUR COMMUNITY FROM SCAMS 🚨

Thank you to the Alpharetta Police Department for quickly alerting our community to this scam targeting local residents.

Scammers can sound convincing and may even manipulate caller ID to make it appear that a call is coming from a legitimate law enforcement agency. Please remember: Alpharetta Police will NEVER demand money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or payment over the phone to avoid an arrest or clear a warrant.

We can all play a role in protecting our community. Please share this warning with your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and especially anyone who may be more vulnerable to these types of scams. A simple share could prevent someone from becoming a victim.

If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from Alpharetta Police, hang up and contact the department directly at 678-297-6300.

SCAM ALERT – PLEASE SHARE

The Alpharetta Police Department has received reports of scammers calling residents while pretending to be an Alpharetta Police lieutenant. The caller may claim that you have pending charges or an active arrest warrant and then demand immediate payment, including payment through gift cards, to avoid being arrested.

This is a scam. The Alpharetta Police Department will NEVER demand money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or any other form of payment to prevent your arrest or clear a warrant. If an active arrest warrant exists, it cannot simply be “paid off” over the phone. Generally, the person must address the warrant through the appropriate legal process, which may include surrendering to law enforcement. In limited circumstances, the officer who obtained the warrant may seek to have it recalled through the court.

Scammers can also manipulate phone numbers, caller ID information, and automated answering systems to make a call appear legitimate. Do not provide personal or financial information. Do not send money or purchase gift cards.

If you receive one of these calls, hang up and contact the Alpharetta Police Department directly on 678-297-6300. When in doubt, hang up and call us, the real Alpharetta Police Department.
