This is just one example of the work happening every day to keep Alpharetta safe. We are incredibly thankful for the men and women of our Police Department, Fire Department, and 911 Communications who are always there when our community needs them. Much of what they do happens quietly and without recognition, but their dedication makes a difference every single day. To all of our public safety professionals, thank you for protecting the people who live, work, and play in Alpharetta. We are proud to support those who support us.

Last night near Mansell Road and Old Roswell Road, an officer conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of a driver found in possession of a G***k switch, morphine, Xanax, ma*****na and other illicit items.

The driver now faces 5 felony charges and 6 misdemeanor charges.

This is a good reminder that traffic enforcement is about more than just what happens behind the wheel. Illegal weapons and controlled substances were on our roads, moving through our community. They’re not anymore. Getting these items out of circulation means they’re not making their way to someone else or becoming someone else’s problem.

We’re proud of the officer who took action and grateful to all of our officers who work every day to help protect the people and places that make Alpharetta home.

And, as always, make good choices out there. It’s a whole lot easier that way.

Congratulations to Alpharetta Post #919 on an outstanding competition and bringing home 1st Place Overall! Programs like this give Alpharetta youth the opportunity to build leadership, teamwork, discipline, and real-world skills while exploring a future in law enforcement and public safety. Another Saturday dawned bright and early for the cadets cause it was COMPETITION DAY!!

This past weekend, Post #919 joined 16 other teams at Cobb County's Public Safety Village for an awesome day of scenarios — catching up with other posts and learning some new things to take home.

Thanks to all the agencies hosting scenarios and their role-players, cadets were able to work through many unique situations using their knowledge and skills to best solve each one. At the end of each scenario, cadets then met with the judges and role-players to get feedback and learn a few new ways to handle similar situations in the future. After six different events, a lot of sweat, strategy discussions (and probably more sweat), Post #919 brought home several trophies including a pretty important one — Most Professional Team Award.

2nd Place – Felony Traffic Stops.
3rd Place – Suspicious Person
1st Place - Male Walk-Up PT
1st Place Overall

We’re so proud of the hard work these cadets have put in working together, learning to function as a team, but most of all we’re proud of how they responded to each scenario with professionalism and a mindset ready to learn!

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Communications Supervisor, Paul Miller.

Paul dedicated almost 20 years of service to our agency and spent the last 3 years serving as a Communications Supervisor, where his leadership, professionalism, and commitment to our team made a lasting impact. He was even awarded the Supervisor of the Year Award in 2025.

Beyond his acknowledgments, Paul was a valued coworker, a husband, and a friend. He led with kindness, patience, and as most know, humor.

He will be missed by everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Rest in peace, Paul. We’ll take it from here. 🤍

For 20 years, 911 Emergency Communications Supervisor Paul Miller was a steady voice behind the headset and a reassuring presence to those who served alongside him. Although many in our community may never have met Paul, his dedication helped protect countless lives and ensured help was there when it mattered most. His professionalism, quick wit, and commitment to serving Alpharetta left a lasting mark on our entire public safety family. We extend our deepest condolences to Paul’s family, friends, shift mates, and everyone whose life he touched.
