After building Alpha Insulation and Waterproofing into a company of more than 1,000 team members, Vikas Verma understands the importance of investing in people.

That’s why supporting youth aging out of foster care through the Fostering Success Act was an easy decision. Vikas sees the opportunity not only to change lives, but to help strengthen Georgia’s future workforce by creating pathways into skilled trades and long-term careers.

Georgia businesses are already paying these taxes. The FSA simply allows you to direct those dollars toward something meaningful at no additional cost.

At just nine months old, Kristauna entered foster care. After years of moving between family placements and the foster system, she refused to let her circumstances define her future.

Today, she’s a student at Georgia State University pursuing her degree in healthcare management and creating a path few thought possible. Her story is a reminder that when youth aging out of foster care are given support, stability, and opportunity, they don’t just survive — they thrive.

For youth aging out of Georgia’s foster care system, the odds can feel stacked against them. After aging out:

• 81% of boys will encounter law enforcement
• 71% of girls will become pregnant within one year

For many of these young people, the difference comes down to whether they have support during the transition into adulthood.

The Fostering Success Act gives Georgia taxpayers a way to redirect state tax dollars toward housing, education, transportation, counseling, and mentorship for foster youth — at no additional cost.

During Foster Care Awareness Month, there’s no better time to invest in the future of Georgia’s youth and help change the trajectory of their lives.

Madison Washington spent 23 years navigating life without a safety net. After aging out of Georgia’s foster care system, she had no family home to return to and no financial cushion—but she did have ambition.

Today, Madison is graduating from Savannah State University with a degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. She's proof that when Georgia invests in its foster youth, they invest back — in their education, in their communities, and in the state’s future.
