🐄 From Flood Relief to Sustainable Hope — Cow Bank Program ❤️
Last year, following the devastating floods in Central Vietnam, the Teri & Charlie Foundation Charlie Nguyen Diem Chau Nguyen donated $11,150 to help families with immediate relief and recovery.
Wanting their support to go beyond short-term assistance, Teri & Charlie approached Tam Ky Project with an idea: Could we create a sustainable program where one gift could continue helping family after family? That idea became our Cow Bank, a reciprocal giving program. ❤️
To bring this idea to life, the Teri & Charlie Foundation donated an additional $10,000 specifically to fund the Cow Bank pilot program, bringing their total contribution toward our Central Vietnam flood relief and long-term recovery efforts to $21,150.
After months of research, planning, navigating government permitting requirements, and working closely with our local partners, we are excited to officially launch the program.
Through this pilot, six families facing significant financial hardship were carefully selected to each receive a cow. The recipients include single mothers raising young children and families caring for children or elderly loved ones while living on limited or unstable incomes.
For these families, a cow is much more than a gift, it is an opportunity to build a more stable and sustainable future. As the cows reproduce, each participating family will pass on a calf to another family in need, creating a continuing cycle of opportunity and giving back.
The distribution day was filled with joy, gratitude, and hope. Seeing the excitement on the families’ faces made all the months of work and challenges behind this program worthwhile.
What began as disaster relief is now becoming something more lasting: a path toward sustainable livelihoods and families helping other families.
We are deeply grateful to the Teri & Charlie Foundation for their generosity, trust, and vision, and for giving Tam Ky Project the opportunity to pilot this meaningful program.
🐄❤️ One cow. One family. One opportunity — passed forward to another.
